Sad to see Dhoni talked about this way. His first few years in international cricket were phenomenal, never would have thought he'd have an issue with scoring too slowly for such a huge chunk of his career

He is still doing ok in ODIs though a shadow of the player he once was. He takes time to get in which would work well lot of time in ODIs, though not always.

The issue with him is in T20s (more so in T20Is) where he does not rotate the strike enough. Skillful bowlers can pin him down.

Dhoni came into the team and stayed for so long on sheer merit. Till he came in, India never had a wicket keeper batsman like him. Sadly that is all past. He is rightly flayed for continuing in T20Is at least. There is no point in playing a 'well past it 37 year old' in the shortest format.

I knew someone will diss the IPL as soon as I made the comment. Bowlers worse than Axar have bowled last overs in internationals.
It's not about dissing - fact of matter is that the bowling (and batting for that matter) quality in IPL is not of international standard - it's just better than the other leagues out there.

Finch :(

Awful summer he's having. Hopefully he doesn't play himself out of the WC somehow.
Finch earned himself a baggy green on Australia's tour of the UAE, and his Test debut went to plan as he scored 62 and 49 in his side's gutsy draw.

However, in the 19 international fixtures since - four Tests, six ODIs and nine T20Is - Finch has scored 317 runs at 13.78 in 23 innings, with one fifty.

Average of 13. thats glenn mcgrath levels.

71 runs in the last 5 overs. Dhoni just took Short apart there. No idea why he's bowling the 18th anyways.

91 runs in the last 6, ****ing hell

Good effort to score 190 despite Dhawan and Pant's 5 overs for 15 runs.

Bit weird from Finch for not bowling Behrendorff out in both games despite only going at ~5 rpo in both games.

Skill gap evident between Maxwell and some of those so called specalist death bowlers. Stick to the bush league boys (IPL)

If langer bats him below 4 in the WC it's akin to high treason

Really weird captaincy by Finch, Behrendorff bowls 1 less over (1-17 off 3), taken by short who went for 19 runs off his 3rd over...I think Finch is mentally destroyed after pretending to be a Test match opener...with his current record over last 6 months, how is he still in the side, never mind being captain?

Obviously bowling Short so late was done to give Maxwell enough runs to get to triple figures.

Holy crap that must have been a brutal innings.

Will laugh if Maxwell is still at no.7 for the ODIs. Should be batting 3 or 4.
I reckon he should float. Has the pads on to bat four, but if there's a decent start he goes in at three. If they lose two quick wickets and it's hooping, he gets held back. Obviously, if they're chasing a big target, he would go in as early as possible.

Finch is a massive concern now. Used to cop a lot of undeserved **** on here even in LO formats, but he's genuinely lost the plot completely. Needs a week in Fiji to unwind ahead of the WC

Maxi has always seemed to raise his game when really needed

2015 ODI WC

Test century upon recall in India

And with t20s he seems to kill it internationally even if he flops in the domestic league
