Yeah, he always seemed like a nice guy as well, so hopefully this can give him some confidence to kick on through the season.

Roussouw has been throwing the kitchen sink at it in Southampton with much success so far.

Samit flogs a long hop straight to point in the Notts game. Always good for a soft dismissal.

Not happy with how the bowlers have done at the Ageas bowl today, Porter has been dissapointing, Harmer needs to be in the action more, come on Tendo get it going!

Watched quite a bit of this Joe Clarke knock today. Looked good today. He's always had the time and ability to punish even good quick bowling. Played a couple of dismissive pull/hooks of Olivier today. Lots of back foot pushes through the covers, and the forceful clip of front or back foot through the leg side.

His issue has been the ball coming back into him. Tends to get his hands a bit too far away from his body and then bowled through the gate as he loses control of a big drive. Looked quite good in this regard today.

Good day for Notts and their title ambitions. Clarke, Duckett and Slater all looking good on admittedly a fairly flat wicket against a moderate div 1 attack.

Imagine being a student facing Anderson and you get out to Footitt or Bohannon. You'd surely prefer the story of getting out to Jimmy.

Not a bad outing for Jason Holder so far.
Not sure why he didn't take the new ball tbh

EDIT: I had no idea Ben Sanderson had such a good record. Looks nothing special, pretty much like your standard county plodder, but a FC average at almost dead on 20 is excellent

That season he had playing for Shropshire sorted him out.

Yorkshire will be at the other end of the table if that is their team. Leaning not kicked on, Tattersall trying to prove he belongs and Kohler-Cadmore more limited overs. Coad, Paterson and Waite in the seam attack at once means Olivier only one with any pace through the air.

Harry Brook is a stroke-filled talent (many ways similar to Breetzke in SA from same age group) and when he clicks they will have a serious player. Obviously just trying to settle in to this level still and what works and doesn't work for him.

Bit of turn on offer early season. Ackermann has really been finding some nice turn for Leicestershire. Even Samit turning it off the straight at Notts. Root with a big yahoo to get out.

Essex have disappointingly lost three good wickets in the opening session. Cook, Wesley and now Lawrence all back in the shed, big partnership coming up between the experienced Bopara and ten Doeschate. For me, this Essex top seven looks strong but they really need to put the numbers on the board this season.

Bit of a tough pill to swallow for Dan Lawrence being ignored in the winter by England Lions. He can't complain though after last season. But it obviously hits home after not achieving what you capable of.

Went away to Oz instead. Is this the season he really lays down his marker and isn't just the talented kid ?

Be amazed if they stop up, can't keep letting players go and not replace them and expect it not have an impact.

Clarke fluffing his chances of twin hundreds in the game on champ debut for Notts. Notts should really declare overnight... should declared earlier tbh.
