I would have expected in an Ashes year that a few more **** ****s like Labuschagne and Marcus Harris would be lining up for contracts.

Why have so few overseas players signed for the start of the red ball season, which is about 3 weeks away?

Middlesex and Yorkshire current have no-one. Do they usually leave it this late?

Tamim Iqbal, JA Burns, UT Khawaja, CA Lynn, Shakib Al Hasan, SE Marsh, +AT Carey, AC Agar, PJ Cummins, Mustafizur Rahman, JP Behrendorff.

Yorkshire aren't signing anyone as overseas, at least initially. There's only two weeks (and some teams only play 1 game) of championsip cricket before there is a month of 50 over cricket so I guess some counties are holding off and seeing how the early season goes rather than tieing themselves down to someone. Limited options this year with the World cup, Ashes and IPL. Root is available for the first couple of championship games so Yorkshire probably figure they can make do.

Would love to see a county sign cornwall as their overseas! Another west Indian option would be chase not sure how much the ipl would interfere with those two mind.

Wouldn't there be work permit issues with Cornwall?

Would that apply to Kolpak-eligible countries though?

Gloucestershire seem to be about the only county that don't go overseas for pre-season.

Even Durham heading to SA. Notice Ned Eckersley trialling with them. Durham upset that Bancroft missing the first championship game of the summer to attend a WA end of season dinner. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/cricket/...st-miss-start/
Probably another reason why some counties haven't signed overseas players currently.

A fair number of overseas players from Australia.

Callum Ferguson has had a horrible Shield season and has been dropped from the South Australian team.
Daniel Worrall has only played 4 Shield games because of injury. However he has done very well when he has played and if he can stay fit should do really well.
Glenn Maxwell will either be in the Australian WC squad or almost certainly the Australian A squad as cover for the WC squad injuries. Whether that means he gets to play the FC games on the A tour will be interesting.
Not sure what is going to happen with Joe Burns, he is not having a great Shield season and is in line for an Ashes berth, but I am not sure it is 100% guaranteed. He might be in the A squad as well
Bancroft has been in excellent form in Shield cricket since his return and is a strong possibility to be an opener in the A squad and may make the Ashes squad. That will really make Durham happy.
Renshaw is in woeful form, he is the player everyone wants to see in the Ashes squad but he just cannot make a run

https://www.pitchvision.com/#/pvm/89234 Notts against a Titans side ********* right now in a 50 over game.

Jake Ball injured after collapsing when bowling. Hope it's not too bad.

Zac Chappell probably the success story of the winter. Had pace with Leicestershire but never really consistent fitness wise, or with great results. Best bowler of the lions tour of India this winter though. Looks good here too. Uncomfortable to face by the looks of it with the pace and bounce. Might be one of those guys who comes from no-where to bypass a load of players straight into the test side.

If Notts could actually produce quick hard bouncy wickets they'd have the bowling to make use of it. Broad, Chappell, Coughlin, Footitt, Ball, Blatherwick (in time).

Bell out for 3 months. Warwickshire side start of this season gonna look vastly different from a year or two ago. Trott retired, Bell injured, Barker gone to Hampshire. Batting will certainly be under pressure.

Three months! That’s a big blow for Warwickshire especially after his form in 2018.

Gloustershire might be missing Dan Worrall for the start of the season as he missed the last Shield match with injury and will be missing the last match of the season because of injury.

Won't be many overseas at all starting the season it seems. Karunaratne deal to Hampshire looks to have stalled as SL are considering him for the world cup. Hampshire stint on hold as Dimuth Karunaratne enters frame for Sri Lanka World Cup captaincy | ESPNcricinfo.com

Notts though trying to get Pattinson back though. https://www.nottinghampost.com/sport...-ashes-2657569
