Predict the margin of Aussie defeat in first test

NSWranger

Cricket Spectator
If Aus bats first , India win with an innings

Aus -185 all out ( top scorers would be Tim Paine and Pat Cummins)
India - 520/7 declared - Kohli double hundred
Aus 230 all out ( Marcus Harris top scores)

If India bat first ,results would be just the similar and india will with an innings after enforcing follow on
India 650 all out
Aus 145 and 205

Starc would be out of the series with hamstring and Cummins would be doubtful with sidestrain

What do you think ?

I can't see any contest in this game in absence of Smith and warner, ideally they should have started the series at Brisbane or Perth instead of flat Indian pitch at Adelaide, literally giving away the match on platter

I understand the alacrity to laud the Indian bowling attack with undue praise since it's their first competent one in 80 years but I expect them to be thoroughly outbowled by their Australian counterparts. Bumrah might be the only threat.

Starc has been **** but not the other 2. Let's not overlook Lyon either. Was the difference between the 2 sides in that narrow win test at Adelaide.

there's a fatal flaw in the OP's thinking: a bowler or three will go down injured in warms up and copers copeland will come into the team and take 17 wickets for the match, with Virat Kohli dismissed LBW in both innings leaving a ball that is pitched on the stumps

OP has inflated the runs scored by both sides but the margin is spot on. Whether Australia breaks 150 in any innings will be dependent on Usman making runs. If he goes early I think this Aussie side is lucky to make 100.

Aussies will win surely?

India are a one man batting line up away from home soil so even if he gets a hundred the rest will roll over for a tummy tickle. Aussie attack to prove too much on bouncier pitches.

Wait and see about the rest of India's batsmen. Rahane was great out here but hasn't performed since or close enough to it. watch him all of a sudden recall how to make runs in conditions he succeeded before. He's also played well in SA. So maybe he likes the bouncier pitches. Any combination of Rohit, Shaw, Vijay, Rahul, Vihari, Pujara, Patel and Pant will see India score plenty of runs. they can go deep with Ashwin Jadeja and Bhuvi too.
