This is reminiscent of Adelaide four years ago when Lyon bowled a really good long spell without any luck til it all turned around late. He’s been better than that here with zero luck and three Victorians in the team.

It's necessary imo. The longer we stay out there the harder it's going to be for Australia in the 4th innings. Besides, Lyon is bowling so well, there's no point taking risks.

We can't go too slow either of course else we won't have enough before the second new ball is due.
I thoroughly agree with you but it doesn't stop me from having a go at the almost English-like dourness of this batting.

They have bowled very well in this half session, with nothing to show for it in the wickets column. Kohli surviving, but looking quite shaky..

It hit him well below the knee roll and was only over the top stump by a centimeter. Back in the day umpires gunned you for that crap. Now you have drs it favours the batter anyway. Pad up without playing at your peril.
He was well outside his crease though. Usually umpires immediately gave the batsman a reprieve in that situation

It's so nice to see the batsmen learning from mistakes. Both openers playing 50+ balls each is a decent effort, no matter how many runs were scored.

Might have a scissors paper rock scenario amongst the big 3 here

Aus > England (yes this is fact haters)
India > Aus
England > India

Ahhhh ...adored Gilchrist as a player obviously, but what a grating voice behind the mic, & then it gets worse when you realize Mark Waugh is commentating with him.

Edit: I'll shut up about the commentators now.

Pujara choking out there atm. Clean air and drinkable water will do that when you aren’t used to it.
