Looking like a long weekend of cold and showers. Disappointing really... three games will probably not get a result.

Well ND got home thanks to a brisk 83 from Williamson (14 4s, one 6) ... and a cameo 30* from Brownlie.

Credit to Rutherford. Last season Wellington seamers cut through everyone pre-xmas.

These double 0-0 declarations are crazy considering these are first round of shield games

Just noticed they batted Finn Allen at no.8 Honestly he's way better than that. They got to have him batting at no.4 or no.5 Auckland is a bit strange.

Always find O'Donnell's batting a little strange - grip closes the face and the shot he seems to loves most is any kind of flick through the legside, squarer (and riskier) than it needs to be. Straight drive goes to wide long on, shot to mid wicket goes to square leg etc. Grip does also help keep his square cuts down I guess, but doubt he scores many runs in front of square on the offside. Overall I'm sceptical of this approach.

He would have been at 7 without the night-watchman. But point still stands.

With Chapman and Phillips away its an opportunity for him to get some decent exposure, disappointing to hide him down the order. Reminds me of Wellington and Harry Boam but without the over-whelming weight of runs by Auckland equivalents of Franklin, Ronchi, Elliot, Woodcock etc

Somerville was the second night-watchman employed in that innings. Not known for his batting in Sydney at all, averaged 18 in first grade.

Nathan Smith looks a good bowler.. Nice lines!

In few hrs, NZ A plays Pakistan A in 2nd T20. Hope NZ batters put some score on board to fight!

Lovely weather in town today, blazing sun and Firebirds bating first. Nathan Smith has troubled both openers. By the looks of it there were three edges through the slips for 3 fours off his bowling and he nicked Woodcock out as well. CD batting first against Aces and off to a good start. Canterbury vs ND is strangely delayed due to rain?
