Last night during the second most comical run out of this test, the third umpire says “check if he’s (Shah) touched the ball first.”

No mate, see if the batsman is in first, because if he’s in then that’s the end of it, whether it’s been touched (sometimes difficult to tell) or not.

I hold similar views.

It should make lbw referrals all the more interesting as well.

They do the ball tracking last because it takes the longest to get footage up for.

labuschagne's run out was worse. the pakistani batsmen just thought the ball that was racing along to the fence went to the fence and it turns out it didn't. labuschagne was straight up watching the whole thing and still didn't think to ground his bat

Not sure if serious but surely hitting is more interesting than seeing if someones foot is over a line.

Re: the 3m rule, I don’t understand why they showed the trajectory of the ball after it hit the pad. When it goes on to hit the stumps, just feels like it’s trolling the bowling side and creates unnecessary angst.

He kicked it off middle peg either way. That should be out. Needs looked at. This is a sport, not tiddlywinks.
