*Official* England Tour of Sri Lanka 2018

Would personally perceive our best odi bowling line up as Woakes, T Curran, Plunkett, Rashid, Ali and Stokes. Covers almost all bases well, granted that it isn't exceptional, but it would probably do

Wow what a surprising result. It's not like it was a 2nd string England either, they were only really missing a few players which is pretty standard for every team in ODIs these days. At least the World Cup is in England.

Decent win for SL. Good to see the batting coming good and the bowling and fielding was seriously impressive.

Eng let themselves down in the field with 3(I think) dropped catches, especially off Mendis whose 50 made a big impact as Eng did manage to claw it back a bit in the late overs.

All in all a result SL can build on and it's good to see Chandimal, Mendis get runs before the Tests too.

T Curran seems to be the find of this series for Eng, really done well at the death. Was also fun to see him have a go at Sam for not diving to stop a boundary.

Willey probably over Curran, his summer 2018 was much improved on anything done before.

A result like this is always going to be on the cards with this England side at any stage, against any opposition.....batting the way we do and with a pretty average bowling attack. But whatever the **** it is we are doing, it's working.......9 ODI series wins in a row!!

Trouble is, as I've said before, all this focus on one day cricket has produced some great results in a short space of time.......but it will count for nothing if the World Cup isn't sitting in the trophy cabinet at Lords next year. And given that we are prone to these big loses from time to time.......you just know one is coming during the knockouts next year.

Shocked by our win yesterday but have to keep in perspective that it wasn't the full England team and also it was a dead rubber.Very pleased by our performance and hopefully this is the performance our players need to be confident that they have the ability, now they need the backbone that only a few of them have currently to make this consistent. Gutted for the big Dick that he didn't get a ton as genuinely thought he deserved one. He has batted well as an opener but our management decided to drop him then move him around the order which as any batsmen knows, isnt easy..
On to the t20 on Saturday and then the tests the week after. Congrats to England on the ODI series win, thoroughly deserved.

Or a chance for Hales to go cheaply after dropping a catch.
Not always, Root doesn't set the world on fire either but then batting and bowling in T20 is a game of chance as you just have to 'smash' it hard into gaps than rather plan an innings.

This would have been a more closer series. This team has potential, lacks consistency..

I did notice he had the usual bowling figures. I wonder if Stone stays fit (big if) whether the Eng selectors obsession with Wood (heh) will finally end. He's dire.
It’s not like he averages low 30s and is just a bit crap. He averages well over 40 in a side that wins just about every game. He’s a division 2 bowler at best.

It's amazing how hales has found himself carrying the drinks had been top drawer in one dayers the last few years for eng and Notts but the Ben stokes incident gave Barstow his chance. Someone has to miss out and for me right now it is either him stokes or Roy. Stokes gives the team a lift they play better when he's in the field imo and Roy is the one in the team and doing so so until he or jb have a few bad games hales will miss out

Roy
Bairstow
Root
Morgan
Buttler
Stokes
Ali
Woakes
Willey
Rashid
Stone

Play stone through the winter and see how he does if he doesn't live up to the hype then go back to plunkett

England play a ridiculous amount of cricket. Didn't you just finish a series v. India.

It's not Stone or Plunkett. Stone opens the bowling and Plunkett is first change to take wickets in the middle overs. Wood and Stone haven't done much, neither are as fast as expected. I think Willey will be back to open with Woakes. He has improved a lot. Last 8 games strike rate 31.5. Best combination Woakes, Willey, Plunkett, T Curran. Stokes hardly bowls his 10 overs or takes wickets. All 4 of those bowlers can also bat.

Could today be the day we see joe denly open the bowling for england?
Does he still bowl those filthy "off spin" darts when he opens the bowling in T20 cricket, or does he bowl his leggies in that too now? I'd actually be mildly impressed if the latter were true.
