World Cup draft, a player from each WC must be picked

What took so long for Bevan to be picked?! He is typically a lock in top 10 ODI player countdowns. Is RedHill having an influence on everyone? :D
It may be because statistically he wasn't quite as strong in World Cups as he was in most other series.

If you actually calculate Bevan's average by innings but discount not outs, he only averages 35. Pretty much the same as plenty of other contemporaries, including Hussey and Mark Waugh. Sachin averaged 40 and Kohli is averaging 50. Smith averages 36 per innings.

He finished a couple of games and a myth developed around his abilities. He wasn't actually as good as people make out, and he was/is nowhere near the GOAT in that format. Not even top 10 IMO.

You dramatically underrate him and his abilities.

I really don't think I do and I'm yet to be convinced otherwise.

Runs per innings tells his true story.
He was by far the best ODI batsman in Australia and was often the difference between victory and defeat. RPI being as high as an opener or someone playing in easier batting conditions is a testament to his abilities, given he spent the majority of his career at 4 and 6.

When Bevan ended up not out, Australia nearly always won.

Plenty of individual performances are the difference between victory and defeat. He's no different to anyone else. Hence the myth.

Yeh, well pretty much most ODIs where one of the 4-6 batsmen is not out will result in a win for that team. Doesn't mean much. Give me Mike Hussey any day who could do everything Bevan could do plus hit much more powerfully when required.

Silly cow corner missed last round so KK could probably pick if he wants.

Fmd people under rate Australian players on this forum. Warne should have gone forest round given he basically won the 99 WC single handedly. Morgieb should gave picked him up second round to have the best spin bowling attack by 13 country miles.

Saqlain is overrated in ODIs. Particularly when we're talking world cups. Warne has a better record in them.
He outdoes Warne on basically every metric in overall career stats though. Much like how Warne does him in tests.

Yeah but this draft is specifically about world cups.

If I could choose between Warne and Saqlain to play in a world cup final for me I'd take Warne in a heartbeat, particularly on unfriendly surfaces.
