Kippax

Cricketer Of The Year
Test matches Pakistan away (3), Sri Lanka (2), Bangladesh (3)
Plunket Shield Reduced to eight rounds. Oct (2), Dec (2), Feb-Mar (4)
NZA: Pakistan A (2), India A (3)

Note: The players chosen for November's four-dayers against India A have a slight advantage from a scheduling point of view. For these NZA players, only their highest eight points hauls of the season will count towards their total.

Prop bets I've included in the contest:

Absolute Spud Worst ratio of points to games played (out of all drafted players): -100 points

King of the Openers Drafted player to score the most runs as an opener: 200 bonus points

King of the Colts Highest points tally for a drafted player born 1997 or later 200 bonus points
Eligible would be Allen (but not G Phillips), Parikh, Gibson, Fisher, Clarkson, Leopard, Murray, Ravindra, Sears, Sheat, Smith, etc.

General scoring system:

Batting
Each Run Scored: 1 point
Duck: -10 points

Bowling
Each wicket taken: 23 Points
Innings bowling average 20 or under: 10 points (min. 5 overs)
Bowling economy rate 4 or above: -10 points (min. 5 overs, bowling average must be above 30)

Example
Bowler A = 0/100 (24) = -10 points
Bowler B 5/27 (5) = 125 points
Bowler C 5/120 (26) = 115 points
Bowler D 1/118 (50) = 23 points
Bowler E 3/55 (11) = 79 points

Fielding
Per catch 10 points
Per WK catch 8 points
Per run out 10 points
Per stumping 10 points

Last call for a sixth drafter today, otherwise drafting starts Tuesday.

In the style of American sports, the spud of the previous season (2016/17) will get thrown some charity with the first draft pick. That'd be Phlegm first, me last, iirc. We'll then randomise it once everyone has two players drafted.

Why 23 points?
Yeah I don't really like players of the Ellis/Tastle/Ajaz type tending to be the most valuable commodities in drafts I run, or other guys who seemingly get undue rewards for the fact they happen to be doing a lot of bowling when crasser players arbitrarily throw their wickets away.

This would be more work for me, but maybe we'll go with:

Wicket of a top-5 bat: 30 points
Wicket of a 6-7: 25
Wicket of an 8-11: 15

We'll settle the bowling points thing, then run with:

Phlegm
Athlai
Chewie
Michaelf777
Howsie

Geg to take someones place if they miss two/three picks in a row.

How many hours per pick? 8/12/24?

There's three weeks until any games start, so the first six draft rounds will be 12 hours. We'll then see how we're doing for time and maybe go down to 8.

Athlai

Not Terrible
You're putting a lot of pressure on Phlegm by making him pick first. His head should say "Kane Williamson" but his heart will say "Ross Taylor", particularly with me as the pick after him, ready to swoop in either way.
