Worst regular all-rounder for a top side

Jadeja was not played as a top order batsman. Quite solid with technique.
Jadeja actually really impressed with the bat in his U19 days and with his first season in the IPL. The common complaint about fitting him into the national side was that he was too much of a top order batsman, and batting at 7/8 was just a bad fit in ODIs. He wasn't good enough to crack the top 6 on merit, so he went and redefined his game to where he became an effective lower order hitter. In the process he lost some of his defensive game, which is why now he's still capable of taking apart a Ranji attack in favourable conditions but is still a bit hit and miss in Tests.

Scored a lot of very valuable runs for us at home on all those turning tracks tho. Him and Ashwin were proper Engine Room players.

Well I don't doubt your knowledge of Sri Lankan cricket is much greater than mine, but I'm not sure how someone with no batting skills can average mid 20s in first class cricket.
"No batting skills" probably exaggerates things slightly, but he was a bowler who could bat a bit at absolute best. He batted below Mel and Rumesh Ratnayake, and he may have averaged 20 in FC cricket but he never hit a ton.

Ian Harvey was better than most specialist bowlers
I don't know about that, but Ian Harvey is a legend of cricket as far as I understand it for his immense all-round talent. The English may have started t20, but Harvey taught them, and the world post cricket max, how to play it.

The guy was called 'the freak" for a damn good reason. He was a fine cricketer, exceptional, who would have got far more opportunities and been a superstar had he not been battling with Symonds, Watto and an Aussie juggernaut.

(Who's to say that the selectors got Symonds and Watto over Harvey right to begin with - even if they're ATG's themselves of limited overs)

He may have even been a test player if not Australian. And a very very good one.

I expect to hear and read about great anecdotes of the atg players like Viv, Grimmett, Tiger, Tyson, Trueman, Hadlee, Punter, Tendy, Warne, Murali etc - but Harvey, with 0 tests, constantly appears in former players memoirs. That means something to me. A lot.

Has anyone mentioned JP Duminy yet? While he's not really regarded as an allrounder these days, there was a time when he was being spoken of as being the player to fill the gap left by Kallis's departure.

The normal awards that everyone else has
Ian Harvey was a handy LO bowler with a few tricks up his sleeve, and a decent lower order bat and fielder.

He'd make India's all time test XI as opening bowler, but beyond that he wouldn't make it into many normal test sides over the years.

Tend to agree with Shri here about Stuart Binny. Never understood what India wanted him to be. Played as a batsman basically in England. Did Okay with the ball against SL. We can knock Pandya as much as we want but he has way more potential.
