The best/your favourite nightwatchman innings

Probably because the Kiwis have realised that sending in a night watchman is good for the bowling side.
It is definitely something some teams favour more than other teams. No doubt it comes down to the captain and coach's philosophy on it, and if the captain is a middle order bat as against a top order bat.

KW prolly has less interest in it as a number 3, than perhaps say BMac did as a #5. In the Vettori era - he just took on everything himself, so it was hard to know if he was playing as a batsman or as a nightwatchman. He was one of our best batsman for most his captaincy.

Swap Vettoris name out for just about any of the specialist bats from his era and the bolded remains true

Cricket, Lovely Cricket
- Chris Lewis century in India comes to mind as one of the first I had seen of a 'bowler' making runs. Remember being shocked by it. Now, when a bowler makes runs, it isn't that big a surprise as it was to a kid having watched for so many years.

- Srinath and Prasad v Australia in the Titan come also springs to mind.

- Nicky Boje and Symcox had a few for SA till it was no longer a surprise.

Obviously neither of these were night watchman innings as they were innings by bowlers.
