No. Strike rotation is always a good thing, especially when you're struggling to put bat on ball. That being said, it was just a bad bad call from Kohli.

We don't practice fielding, catching and players don't even know how to take runs. Sweet.

That wasn't his fault though. Kohli came and then turned his back on him.

Only run if you place the ball into the gap properly and there's no one within 10 feet of the thing. This sounds stupid yes, but I'm convinced if teams adopted this over time, they'd put up marginally better scores. Runouts are just ****ing stupid when there no run rate pressure.

That doesn't magically change the number.

When you know how to run, quick runs are good as 1. They are runs 2. Helps rotate strike.

Wicket loss is irrelevant it showed intent.

If Kohli actually went all the way and made the dive, there is a high possibility that he would have made it because then you're relying on
    1) Direct hit
    2) Keeper gathering it cleanly and clipping the bails

This was more poor calling than anything else

at this level you really should be assuming those things will happen and not taking that chance (but yes **** calling was the main cause here, as it usually is in run outs)
do you think people will be allowed to make violins?
who's going to make the violins?

That's kind of the point I'm making tbh. These runs where you actually need to go all out to ensure you make your ground... they just don't seem worth it in the longer format.

Yeah, they feel kind of unnecessary even if they mathematically work, because in the end it just freaks out your partner and disrupts the partnership, making a proper mix-up that much more likely.

Annoys me how long it takes to get back on the field in a Test match. The covers are off, it's stopped raining yet inspection isn't until 3 which means no cricket until probably 3.30. Get out there now, tell the players to start getting ready, inspect and be back on the field for 3.
