Exciting day of cricket all in all. The beauty of test cricket is that every session is its own little battle, capable of shifting the lead balance either way.

They will post 400+ or will get bundled out for 160.
They'll bundle out for sub 150 runs.

SL will bat again.

Mendis will score a fighting 100

Set SA with a total of 450 to win.

SA all out on the 3rd session of the last day's play, with play being extended for half an hour to force a result om the third day itself.

South Africa will score 387 in their first innings, with Amla scoring a century after a long time and the others and the Sri Lankan fielding chipping in.
Sri Lanka will bat again, on the third day; Maharaj and Steyn will rip the batting apart; they will get shot out for their lowest total ever.
South Africa to win by an innings and a few runs. Series to be squared.

Maharaj is such a G. Would take bucket loads more of wickets if he played on these types of responsive tracks more often. Just hope we bat well. Imo 350 is minimum if we are going to bowl them out got about 280 odd tomorrow morning.

Could be a passing of the torch moment here from the worlds best left handed spinner to the next.

Actually nah Herath's just going to keep motoring along isn't he

Looking at the highlights, not many of the dismissals were caused by exaggerated turn or bounce, mainly just poorly executed sweep shots and drives, history says that 300 isn't really enough at SSC, but we also thought the Galle pitch wasn't playing too bad on day two so hard to know. SA right in the game if Amla/Du Plessis can get going tomorrow

It was turning big, particularly for day 1. Maharaj gets big turn in general though, and I've seen him move the ball this much early in a test in RSA though. No demons in the pitch, but enough for Lanka to work with even if it doesn't break up- RSA not good against quality spin on even a decent wicket.

That ball to Matthews was unplayable. I don't know why they kept sweeping him. Dikruwan got out to one that pitched outside leg. Maharaj kept it tight all day though.

There is a certain amount of variable bounce; on this wicket, South Africa should rein in their propensity to sweep as often as possible.
