Worrying how we have stalled against spin in both games, totals around the 270-280 mark are simply not good enough once the series starts properly.

Yeah, it's as depressing as it is predictable.

As for the pace attack, I rate all of the bowlers individually, they have it in them to succeed at international level, but as a unit the lack of ODI experience is a cause for concern.

Woah, Scotland FTW!!!! This'll be why England lose the world cup: their bowling is trash.

Also, I see someone has just cast a vote for Australia.

Why would they play? Especially Jimmy hasn't played white ball cricket for ages.

Also, their figures aren't accurate for this day and age. They were playing in an era when 250 might be a decent score and the ball maybe actually did something. Nowadays ODI cricket is mostly just batting paradises.

Woakes and Curran are decent replacements for Willey and Wood, but they have no real pace anywhere in sight.

There is a certain level of guile and composure that is needed in ODI cricket now. Skill doesn't take you far enough.

England should aim to identify bowlers who have those intangibles, along with a decent skillset, and persist with them. Give them a role in the team and let them get used to it. Give them a sense of security and confidence so that they may go about executing their plans fearlessly.

Chopping and changing after one bad game will not help their ODI cricket. Looking for high-skill bowlers who don't have the intangibles won't help on flat pitches like this. Being all 'English' about their cricket will be their downfall. You need your players to be confident and street smart.

By and large England have done this, hence they are number 1 in the world. But it's a high risk game. Instead of bringing out the pitchforks after 1 bad loss, maybe just give credit to Scotland and chalk this down to a bad day and move on.

lol how long ago do you think they played? It's not like they haven't played since the 90s, ODI cricket wasn't that much different 4-5 years ago when they were regulars

Well Anderson made his debut in 2003 if I recall? Suggesting he should come back when England have had major success over the last couple of years is crazy. Although probably better than Wood and Willey, Curran and Woakes are better still.
