Tremendous batting performance by Sunil Narine. Faced only 36 balls and scored 75 runs. Strike rate over 200.

KKR vs KXIP. KXIP have won the toss and elected to bat first. KKR scored 245-6 in 20 overs. Sunil Narine scored 75 runs in just 36 delivery. Maximum batsman's strike was 200+. KXIP need 246 runs in just 120 balls.

This falls under Law 41 - Unfair Play, under the latest set of MCC Laws

Basically if you attempt to distract the batsman before the batsman receives the ball (Law 41.4), the umpire should
> Call and signal Dead Ball
> Award 5 penalty runs to the batting side
> Report it

If you attempt to distract the batsman after he has received the ball (Law 41.5), the umpire should:
> Call and signal Dead Ball as soon as it happens
> Make it clear the batsman is not to be dismissed off this delivery (so if he was bowled, or caught, or anything else, it doesn't count)
> Award 5 penalty runs to the batting side
> This ball won't count as one for the over - make sure the scorers and players know this
> All runs completed before the offence + runs in progress (regardless of if the batsmen cross or not) are credited to the batting side
> All other relevant penalty runs apply
> The batsmen in the middle get to decide who takes strike
> Report the incident

The full laws (41.4 and 41.5) can be found on the MCC website.
Neat copy and paste *****

Loving Narine the batsman. Smart career move too, you can't ban him from batting because he chucks.

I also agree that it is a damn smart career move too but because it could cause more bowlers to hit the nets belting balls and to increase their value to the teams, he could be the start of a phenomenon that the likes of Brendon McCullum and Richard Levi end up being displeased with.

I don't think Chennai will win the tournament, they're steady and qualify every time, but they will lose in the knockouts to a team with more firepower like KKR or KXIP.

Seems kind of perverse that Archer didn't start the season for RR unless he had some kind of injury. Hopefully Stokes and Buttler are making him feel welcome.

I thought Buttler probably should have been dropped prior to him going bonkers in the last 5 games. Should have known better than to bet against him.
