Nathan Bracken

As most of you know, bracken has been dropped off the ACB contracting list. WHY???? Although not having a great series bowling when India came to town which aussie bowler did?? And in ODIs!! Hes had a dream start to his oneday career with an avg of just 19.71 and 28 wickets in 17 matches with a damn good economy rate. but they drop him... any ideas??

In tests he doesn't yet have the full package, usually he doesn't swing it much and on a flat pitch he can look very ordinary eg. vs India he didn't have any answers to their batting, he could only try to put it on the right spot and hope for the best. Also there is only so many fast bowler contract spots. But I do agree with you that they should have renewed his contract as a one day player (probably in the place of Brad Williams). Great ODI stats so far.

Kaspa is better (as is Watson and ofcourse Bichel) no point giving him a contract if he has basically a zero chance of playing any games

hes a very one dimensional bowler....test cricket is more than just putting the ball in the right place and hoping that the pitch does the rest.

I'm just glad Kasprowicz has been brought back (however short this stint may be).

I always thought he was a class act.

But what does height have to do with anything?
Try telling that to a batsman when facing Joel Garner. He delievered the ball from above the sight screen, which no doubt can be quite distracting or a annoyence.

Nathan Bracken's ODI record to date is good & he is unlucky IMO that he has not got a contract, though its great to see Kaspa get a contract.

I know this. Couldn't resist the dry humour anyway.

Which just means that they have to adjust the sight screen. Surely the batsman can object strongly to such a thing and have a good point too.

I don't understand why Nathan Bracken is criticized like he is.

The guy had done all the right things in ODIs. He bowled absolutely perfect on the flat pitches in India in the TVS Cup (November). Sure, he looks out of sort in Tests, largely because of a lack of variation.

But doesn't his bowling performance in ODIs call for a contract. Didn't Australia introduce the system of different sides for both ODIs and Test, with specialist players.

I do certainly believe that Nathan Bracken is ODI capacity bowler.

He is a good ODI bowler but he does not have the pace variation or swing to trouble top batsman in test cricket.

Yes Australia picks different sides for Tests & ODI's, though the selectors felt that there were other players (eg. Shaun Tait, Michael Kasprowicz) who were ahead of Bracken in regards to being selected for Australia.
