    Jonty Rhodes and Mike Bevan

There is speculation over hiring Jonty Rhodes as India's fielding coach and possibly Mike Bevan as India's specialist ODI coach on how to pace ODI innings.

what? No way, your kidding, rite? I think its just a rumour. But if Rhodes agrees, that will be a good move to hire him. I'm pretty sure Bevan has not given up on his career yet and is gonna try and get back into the aussie side.

I'm not kidding, Rhodes news is even on cricinfo, its discussed there in thorough detail. As for Bevan I heard he'll move on to the English county system and stay there but Hindustan Times said he could very well end up working for the BCCI.

Well I can't imagine what would happen if the likes of Ganguly and Nehra tried to field like Jonty... I guess there's only one way to find out though.

I heard that John Wright's contract as coach of the Indian team ends later this year. Is it going to be renewed and is wright available for one more term?

Well even I heard the Kiwis want him back, however he still is India's first choice, I guess Ian Chappell, Roger Binny and DeVilliers are next in line.

Wright himself has said he wants to stay longer.

Jonty's not being hired as India's fielding coach. He'll be having a stint at the NCA with the under-15 and under-17 trainess along with some India 'A' players. They're trying to get Boycott as batting coach too. I've not heard any news abt. Bevan

Yes, Rhodes is going there for a day to give a training session.

Bevan sounds like hogwash to me though (he's yet to retire)

With the amount of ODI's played by the likes of Dravid / Tendulkar / Ganguly, i should hope they'd all know how to pace a ODI innings by now. Also no international team would hire a coach just to teach how to pace a ODI, thats just plain stupid. Also NZ have a brillient coach in Bracewell whos only been there a short time so i find it highly unlikely they'd want Wright back.
The reporting in the Indian media is worse then in the UK when it comes to correctness / truthfulness (and thats saying something!).

If you ask me, the team may need a fieling coach, and especially Ganguly, Nehra and Kumble. Even when winning, they dropped 5 catches! It's most disappointing when good fielders like Dravid and Sehwag drop catches.

They definitely need a bowling coach, even better if he's an all-rounder. Batsmen should learn to bowl, while bowlers should learn to bat, especially the younger players.

But will he make it back in the International side?

I have my doubts to be honest.

Amazing how just before the SL tour there was a big call on here for him to play in the Tests over there, yet now he's been dumped completely!

I think the Indian catching is in pretty good shape. We have a very good slip cordon (and a brilliant forward short leg in Chopra if he plays). It's in one-day matches where although the ground fielding is decent the throwing especially from the deep is extremely poor and needs to be worked on.

I agree Marc. As we've seen with the selectors in the past they've made their beds on Bichel and Bevan - there's no chance of a recall. They only play their hand once.
