England's batting is just way too good for us, they'll probably score close to 300 here.I don't think we're capable of chasing those kinds of scores tbh.

We're too reliant and Guptill and Munro for that, we simply don't have the quality in the middle order to chase it down against the top sides.

Woakes, Rashid and Willey still to come and Buttler still there.

Incredible batting line up.

Maybe we should look to approach the game the same way and replace the likes of Latham and Nicols with more dynamic players? Don't really see the need for them with Guptill, Kane and Taylor in the team.

Hmm, I'd say NZ are on top, atm. 232/6 in the 43rd, far from struggling, anyway.

Batting line up looks good for NZ bar Latham.

Why is everyone acting like this England team is Australia circa 2007. They're good but they're definitely beatable.

Probably because of the power their batting line up possesses. Under pressure they may crumble, but they're still difficult to beat in ODI series.

God dammit what's up with our fielding this summer? Another dropped catch.

Southee has been bowling really nicely towards the death this summer, makes you wonder where it's been the last two years.

Didn't see the middle overs with Santner and Sodhi but sounds like they were pretty good apart from the big Sodhi over. A shame we dropped a couple of catches (again).

Since Sodhi and Santner came back on to finish their spells, England have really struggled. Excellent death bowling from them and Southee/Boult.

Southee finding his mojo again helps us so much. We have four genuinely good ODI bowlers right now

Buttler back in form makes such a big difference to this England side..

Their batting is genuinely pretty awesome. Their bowling is mid-tier at best though really so when they're not posting big scores (like today), they could really be under pressure to defend them.

The idea that they're stupidly hard to beat is silly, but the idea that they're stupidly hard as a batting lineup to restrict - particularly in this manner of actual disciplined restrictive bowling as opposed to taking a bunch of early wickets - is completely real IMO. This has been seriously awesome in the last 10 from New Zealand.

285 is a decent score and if England didn't have trash bowling I'd typically say you could defend that total. New Zealand should be able to chase this, but then again NZ has a weak odi lineup. (And a horrid middle order)

I think it's actually been quite a while since they posted a 286 or above in an odi.

This isn't T20 cricket, NZ are far from reliant on Munro and Guptill to win - Williamson and Taylor are all-time-XI ODI players for NZ.

NZ should win provided a) Guptill/Williamson/Taylor aren't knocked over cheaply; and b) they don't leave too high a run rate for the unreliable lower order in the last ten - no more than 70-80.

Yep, especially chasing this sort of target against meh bowling. Munro is the fourth most important batsman here at best.

NZ doesn’t have a weak ODI lineup?
