Given the length of this tail I can't pick Klusener and have to go with a batting all rounder. The two obvious candidates are Kallis and Symonds. Kallis really needs to bat 3 or 4 I think, whereas Symonds is well suited to come in down the order.

So I'll pick Symonds.

Mark Waugh brought so much more to the game than just his runs, even though he was awesome there too. Won games with the ball when needed and phenomenal in the field. With all the catches McGrath garner and mural will make he is no troll selection. Teams with mark Waugh in them were much better than teams without him.

Symonds. He does the job asked for here. A similar strike rate to Imran and only 1 more run per over which you could argue is about era. And he is a gun in the field which the all time best needs. Fielding should really be considered for this team. Viv cuts it. Some of the others don't.

Yeah and with Jaya not playing it's not like there's another 6th bowler too. Klusener and Kapil OTOH can do 10 overs.

and yet he often did that in the world's best ever team and took crucial wickets. In this team with the opposition desperate for runs against him he'd be more dangerous. Stephen has been making a very valid point about balance. This team, is going to be rather average in the field at the moment and rather average in the batting beyond 5.
