Why does Indian cricket go for experience over skill?

SteveWaugh

Take Parthiv Patel. Why not go for Rishabh Pant, simply as Pant clearly has the higher skill level at this point in time? The only major reason Parthiv has been selected is 'experience'.

In Australia, they unearthed Gilchrist, not some other old wicketkeeper. Similarly, why Ishant and Umesh? Why not Navdeep Saini?

The answer? Experience!!!

I'd love it if we had our own De Kock, but I'm not sure we're going to find it in Pant. Not every exciting youngster can be a Hardik and immediately fulfill our needs. Sometimes you go looking for De Kock and get PartHIV instead.

surely you could have fit Cummins in there somewhere. Will we get to see DeCock caught Cummins in the next series?
