He's a new ball specialist who plays more than half his Tests in England. You'd expect him to be way up the top. Vaas is more of an interesting one.

Many of those bowlers are new ball opening bowlers yet only one is ahead if Anderson!

Exactly so my point being.Anderson is not given the due recognition he deserves.We tend to under-rate bowlers like Anderson a lot.

Lillee taking the top 7 WI wickets of: Haynes, Greenidge, Viv, Kalli etc much different from Vaas taking wickets of Gayle, Hinds, Saran etc. Context!!

Does this mean Vaas or any other top bowler takes wickets only with the new ball? This simply means these bowlers have a greater majority of their wickets consisting of a counry's top 7 batsmen.
This is not a debate about when and where you take wickets.

It REALLY means is that, where there is help, these bowlers take a lot of wickets. When their is no help on the wicket, they just take the shine off the ball and let spinners do the work.
