Probably a bit late in replying to this, but the thing is that Haigh was sycophantic towards Warne and the book was definitely intended to present Warne in a positive light—to the extent of spinning* things to justify a favourable view, but the impression I took away was largely negative. Furthermore, I definitely didn't know as much about Warne before reading as I did after, and I'd have felt better off not knowing, as he didn't come off as the most agreeable human, to say the least.That is interesting, especially as Haigh has always been fairly sycophantic towards Warne. There was a fairly negative Warne biography from a few years ago by Paul Barry (although that was a fairly ordinary book iirc).
