Jeez, for all the bagging we give White about not scheduling enough tests, it's not hard to see why during a game like this. Sure the Windies aren't the strongest opposition. But you've had the first 2 days of a test played on a weekend in fantastic warm summery conditions, at a nice genuine test match venue, and 3 men and a dog have turned up to watch.
That falls back onto NZ cricket's business strategies though. It is harder to get decent Test crowds now than it was 35 years ago. People lead busier social lives and have a lot more options, but NZ cricket need to think outside the box of how to attract people in.

Are there opportunities to offer more free entry (or substantially lower prices per ticket) for certain groups. Are there opportunities to have other entertainment in the greater venue to get people in. (perhaps in conjunction with mini- food festivals, art, trade, sponsorship-driven peripheral events, educational events etc) Are there other small programs they could run? Fast bowling competitions for different age groups. aired in the tea break. Mini family competitions.

Once again it comes back to accepting the need to invest a little to keep Test cricket strong, provided they buy into the philosophy that being a strong Test nation, underpins the revenue creating from other forms. I can only think they don't believe this, and instead believe white-ball cricket is the way forward for New Zealand.

Tbf, Windies never draw a good crowd.

Wasn't that long ago during BMac's last test that I remember Christchurch being absolutely packed to the rafters. Just need some quality opposition.

Well this too. Even so, NZ cricket need to get their thinking caps on, rather than just going through the motions.

Meanwhile, Boult continues to amaze with these acrobatic catches. He really is a rubber band at times. Incredible ability to quickly change direction.

i think the windies are, probably unintentionally, the only team to get how to bat against wagner - he'll happily bowl 15 overs of bouncers in a row that are risky to score off so you just keep swinging and hope its not his day and he gets hit out of the attack
