    Quality control draft

So, this draft will be quite rigid in structure. But hopefully still fun.

Your team will be divided into 4 distinct categories, 5 batsmen, 1 AR, 1 WK and 4 bowlers

    min 1 test played

5 Batsmen have to bat in the top 5

AR and WK have to bat 6 or 7 (no rules as to who bats where)

4 Bowlers have to bat from 8-11

*Your 5 batsmen have to come from 5 groups. Test batting average range of under 35, 35-40, 40-45, 45-50 and 50+.

*Your 4 bowlers have to come from 4 groups. Test bowling average range of under 23, 23-27, 27-31 and 31+.

*Your AR can be anybody. This means you can play Imran/Hadlee here and not waste a valuable top tier bowling slot. Likewise with Sobers/Kallis and batting slots.

*Your WK has no extra rules either

If anyone can spot a flaw or oversight in the rules, let me know. Its possible I made one here

No bradman, 8 hour draft times. Random reverse order

I love how every single draft excludes Bradman. Not being derisory about it, but on a site all about cricket and where cricket tragics come to discuss this sort of stuff, it kind of says it all about the bloke and where he stands as a player.

Just a suggestion - the bowling thresholds look a tad low or narrow if you want a wide spectrum of picks..The rules have us picking 2 batsmen averaging in the 30s (ie some mediocre players) but can pick all bowlers averaging in the 20s (generally better than mediocre).
Happy to go with whatever you reckon though.

my concern was there are at least a few really good batsmen averaging under 40 in tests and hardly any really good bowlers averaging over 31.

    maybe it should be 30+?

Do we have to announce whether we are treating a player as an AR or a specialist at the time of picking or can we wait till the end?

in my view, yes you should announce it. but others should comment on it before we decide

I'll vote for not having to announce, to allow for flexibility and tactical agility.
