wow, when was the last time an Australia Test match hasn't been televised in Australia?

Presumably it's got something to do with networks not thinking it would go ahead. Either that or they really think no one cares about the series.
I would have thought the anti-siphoning legislation meant that someone, somewhere had to carry it within Australia?

There could well be some solid reasoning behind it but that sounds like a rather funny situation if true.

Only home games and Ashes Tests in England are covered by anti-siphoning. Even if that wasn't true though I don't think anti-siphoning laws actually compel broadcasters to show things; they just prevent pay television networks outbidding FTA networks for certain events.

Fox Sports will get more eyeballs on this than they do with a lot of the other cricket they cover though, so no reason not to show it. I suspect they held off negotiating a price until they were sure it'd go ahead, but I'd be surprised if they didn't have it worked out properly before the first Test.

Yeah, can't see any way that Fox Sports that is currently showing Eng/West Indies will not be broadcasting this series.

Based on that, looks like:

1. Tamim
2. Souyma
3. Kayes (should be Mominul)
4. Sabbir
5. Shakib
6. Mushfiqur +
7. Mosaddek
8. Nasir
9. Mehedi
10. Taskin
11. Mustafizur

12. Liton
13. Shafiul

Cricket Australia reported it as a 14 man squad and then listed 13 names (****ing spuds), so I suspect that #13 is Taijul. Might be a swap between him and Nasir, then, but I love me some Nasir at #8

this was on the card as chandika dislikes mominul the most. Soumya and Shabbir dont have test temperament yet so i am not sure. Nasir should play limited overs not tests. This is a blunder. Gutted for mominul. Only positive is that Liton is in the squad so hoping he plays and keeps instead of mushfiq

lol at leaving Monimul out, definitely wtf'd upon seeing that. He's their highest averaging player ever. It's like if we decide to leave Smith out to bring Burns back.

Absolutely insane decision.

Mominul's form is not good but not that he's dropped entirely. Basically had poor run against India in one off test and the first test vs sl. Also considering its home series so this is a bad decision.

What a stupid decision, was looking forward to seeing him bat.

I guess being a test specialist is a big no-no. It's hard not being as good as Imrul Kayes.

Whilst I agree it's wrong for Mominul to be left out whilst Kayes gets in, although I don't think it's quite as ridiculous as it sounds given that Kayes seems a better player than he used to be.

Anyone know what both their recent FC form has been like? I guess if Kayes has been doing alright and Mominul not so well, it's justifiable? Obviously not if this isn't the case though.

I mean, when we brought back 26 year old Gary Ballance with 4 centuries and an average in the high 40s last year, people were quick to voice their opinion that it was a bad move and they were proved right. I know it's a bit of a different context, but I guess what I'm trying to say is even though Mominul is statistically above all the other options right now (and tbf he is genuinely better, I'm not trying to suggest his stats are misleading or anything), his form did dip and if he hasn't started making runs again then not selecting him isn't exactly a crime imo.

Of course, if he is making runs then it's total rubbish for him not to have made the squad and if him and Imrul are doing similarly at FC level right now (whatever that level is) (then selecting Imrul is still probably the wrong move)

It's not even about Kayes really, guys like Rahman and Sarkar (no test tons, test and FC average ~30) haven't produced anything like the runs Mominul has at any level except in ODIs.

They've just left out a guy who should be one of the first names on the team sheet
