This thread would have been a lot more fun if not for the cricket archive pay wall

yeah but i'm spending like $50 a month on wrestling subscriptions and cricket archive doesn't have piledrivers, cutters or star ratings

How good is Miller's Shield batting average when you factor in his bowling workload too?

Nope

His temperament failed him at test level and he batted in a completely different fashion when selected
IMO if you took 2000-2003 Bevan and stuck in the Aus test team he could well have been the 2nd best bat in the side after Ponting. He was a very different FC player than he was back when he played most of his Tests.

There was nothing splitting Bevan and Martyn domestically but Martyn got the nod and held the spot for like 6 years.

The normal awards that everyone else has
Apart from Matryn's ability to deal with quick short bowling.

That was more an excuse that got trotted out every time someone questioned Bevan's lack of consideration for Test cricket rather than anything based in practical fact. Funny how few dismissals early in your career can do that.

SeamUp

International Coach
Obviously mainly before modern eras of the 90s where less domestic cricket was played by internationals. But just wanted to reference SA batsman before further comment. In no particular order leaving out Hash, AB etc who are still playing.
