Russell Tiffin always had a few shockers in him.

Nah, he's obviously not that accurate as otherwise his nickname would be sniper

But then I suppose if he was really bad he;d be called shotgun because of all the batsmen he's sawn off

Some of Lou Rowan's exploits are probably too embroiled in controversy to be judged fairly, but seems pretty awful. Refusing the use of the roller is just bizarre

Rowan came across as the same type of pompous self important nitwit as Fred Goodall in New Zealand (the one attacked by Colin Croft in his run up).

Did you ever read John Snow's autobiography? He wasn't impressed with Rowan at all.

I haven't read that. But I know the England 1970/71 Ashes Tour party didn't like him for a number of reasons. The Snow/Jenner bouncer incident being the most infamous.

Has anyone mentioned the immortal Javed Aktar (RIP). In the 1998 series against South Africa he made 8 mistakes in England's favour at Headingley which enabled England to win the series. Just to prove it wasn't bias he knocked England out of the 1999 World Cup with an extraordinary LBW against Graham Thorpe.

In that entire six match 70/71 series not a single Australian batsman was given out lbw

Anyone who thinks Reiffel is an ok umpire clearly didn't see the Zimbabwe - NZ series last year...
