I knew that no ball problem was going to bite us in the ass.... the SA 'A' games and the warm-ups have been a problem. Don't know what is going on....

root, bairstow and stokes at 3,4 and 5 is the only sensible way forward. by far and away the three best middle order batsmen england have.

get bairstow to give the gloves to foakes.

MJay have had some early luck, but he's definitely looked great after getting in. Hopefully for England's sake this is the norm for him with the captaincy.

Isn't it supposed to be 55 overs till tea and 35 overs in the last session anyway?
Supposed to be roughly 15 overs an hour, the reason it usually goes 55/35 is because we basically always play extra 30 minutes due to terrible over rates.

Should be 30, 30, 30 but I suppose quicks bowl first session so you could argue 55/35 is fair but they bowled 52 which is 8 overs below the expected rate.

Bit streaky before 20 but looks a class apart as usual, glad to see he converted but need a 150 here with this batting line up.

Think SA missed a trick bowling the part timer at Moeen first when he was in, Vernon at him on 0 would have been a massive challenge. Still is now but they could have had us in all kinds of trouble 200-6
