Should Dravid keep wickets for India?

Although Dravid is better than Deep Dasgupta , he still isnt a specialist keeper. He is a fine slipsman, but against Kumble and Harbhajan a keeper like Ajay Ratra who is only 21 should be given a chance. What do you all think?

It depends, if Dravid is scoring runs then you're better off having him in the side. Im not sure of the keeping skills between the two, so whether Ratra is that much better as a keeper to have in the side I do not know.

I would have Dravid as the keeper for the following reasons: -

    - He will out score the other specialist keepers that India have and allow for an extra batsman/bowler

    - It's been proven that only around 15% of all the balls go through to the keeper in OD matches, so less balls therefore less need for a specialist keeper IMO.

    - He has proven he can do the job, and he did ok today 2 catches, 1 stumping and 70+ runs with the bat.

Yeah i'd say that Dravid has penciled himself in for the rest of the tournament as India's keeper now.

yea that gives more room for india to have a choice of 4 paceman to go into the game or 2 spinners , i think keeping dravid at keepers position in O.DI's is good as in tests are different were there are many more dot balls and spinners especially need specialised keepers to do the job. But i reckon they should try and Bring back Nayan Mongia he was a good batsmen and hes a real good keeper to.

apparently the reasons why the selectors dont take nayan.m in the team is because earlier on when he was on the team he had a dispute with senior players in the team eg. ganguly and tendulkar ( im not sure about tendulkar ) So thats why everytime hes in the list of keepers they seem to avoid him.

And no he isint a match fixer :P

Something needs to be tryed so there is no harm in trying him. They can then bring in another batter or bowler
