Another crazy and meaningless game.

Mahanama made 226. There were also a couple of fifties. Final score was 952/7.

Sri Lanka lead by 350 runs with 8 wickets remaining in the 1st innings

KC Sangakkara (LHB) 249
DPMD Jayawardene (RHB) 18

Are they going to declare anytime soon??

Sangakkara joint high score for the inning. 91 away from Jayasuria's SL record of 340 and 151 away from BC Lara's World Record of 400*. What is going to happen when Australia starts to play?

Well, before we look at the world record...

Highest Individual Test Scores by Sri Lankans

340 ST Jayasuriya v India at Colombo (RPS), 1st Test, 1997/98 [1374]
267 PA de Silva v New Zealand at Wellington, 1st Test, 1990/91 [1162]
242 DPMD Jayawardene v India at Colombo, Asia-Test, 1998/99 [1445]
230 KC Sangakkara v Pakistan at Lahore, Asia-Test, 2001/02 [1592]
225 RS Mahanama v India at Colombo (RPS), 1st Test, 1997/98 [1374]

That puts Atapattu at #4 with 249. Sangakkara is on 265*, third and heading past de Silva for 2nd and looking at potentially the highest test score in Sri Lankan history.

Interesting: 20 of the 50 highest Test scores have come since 1990.

8 of the 19 triples ever scored have come since 1990 while the highest 3 innings in all of test cricket has come since 1994.

Sangakkara currently has 266* placing him joint 45th highest scorer in Test cricket with Ponsford (1934) and Houghton (1994)

EDIT: 267*- Move him up 5 notches to joint 40th

And that's all she wrote: 270 caught.

4th recorded 270 in history

36th highest score in history.

Yep, the 413 i think will go down. Hayden/Langer has what it takes.

I hope they carry on to 1000 and make a mockery of all the wonderful records made in the past. This might finally force the ICC to take action.
