I just tend to take a balanced view of the relative abilites of players and look beyond the numbers.

well if u would look beyond numbers then u would realise that cairns at his peak(which didnt last very long due to frequent injuries) was capable of winning matches on his own with bat or ball. how many other all rounders in this generation would u consider being able to do that?pollock- not with the bat in tests and kallis- not even close with the ball. the reason he is rated so highly was that he could make it into the squad on his batting or bowling alone....that IMO is what a good all rounder should be
