Smith to have had enough of the captaincy by the end of the 2021/22 Ashes, imo.
Dan with seven correct from the current XI is a decent effort

i think taylor, watling, raval, and wagner will be retired by then and maybe southee/boult too if their injuries continue

latham
ravindra
kane
young
bruce/phillips/allen
leopard
seifert
santa
smith
boult
ferguson

-not sure who will hold #4 and #5 since it's close between the established FC youngsters and finn allen is impressive in age group cricket.
-backing leopard because he has an incredible eye and the current duo are so injury prone.
-seiferts newfound ability this season to curb his natural game and play to the situation displays remarkable maturity for a young nz wicket keeper brought up with #intent
-santa has vettori written all over him
-smith is class, and Ferguson strikes me as someone who can go on a brief period of strike bowling before succumbing to injury
-between wildly fluctuating form and injury im less convinced of southee than i am of boult over the long term
gonna shake my predicted team up a little. now that will young is tonning up batting out of position for NZ A instead of scoring 70s on green decks im daring to believe again. i don't think he'll bat #4 in reality tho, it looks clear they're grooming him to open the batting. rachin is a natural opener and they're putting him in the middle order for NZ A so i don't know what's up with that.

surprise dropping - tom latham after one soft drive on 40 too many (this is mainly me still grizzling after his first test dismissal). nathan smith is given new ball duties due to his ability to send it both ways. southee becomes the tight third seamer using his height and off cutter along with the natural outswinger.

retired - taylor, watling, wagner, lord colin
some right, some wrong. i picked the wrong bloke from the new ball combo to quit. selectors hate anyone who bowls quickly. **** i loved nathan smith after that under 19s showing.

crazy to think this was all pre-knowing who conway even was. maybe he debuted in late 2017? that seems about right.

oi this is damn close.

looking back through the thread we all expected Ferguson to get opportunities after Wagner wound down, one of Southee/Boult to get mega injured as per NZ 1990s-00s, Ravindra to open and Young to bat 4. A lot of Smith love, though only FP and one other backed KJ.

International Regular
No need to be Tongue-in-Cheek good call from years ago. Good chance you'll have the bottom 8 play this year.
Max holden I had my middlesex hat on although he did have his best season for us last year but at no 5 where there is a long list infront of him for england

Beamer

International Vice-Captain
Good side. Not sure about Archer though, last I heard (about 2 weeks ago) he hadn't decided his future yet and it's a really difficult decision. Maybe I'll put him in my West Indies team as well just to be difficult!

Windies 2022 team:

Kraigg Braithwaite
Evin Lewis
Darren Bravo
Shai Hope
Royston Chase
Shimron Hetmeyer
Sunil Ambris (wk)
Jason Holder
Rakheem Cornwall
Alzarri Joseph
Oshane Thomas

So not too dissimilar because our current team is so young. Of course at the rate our board falls out with players it might be unrecognisable so we'll see.
Good Lord. I know nothing Jon Snow.

Jofra chose England and the £££. Enough said.
Bravo called the then President a Big Hidiot and that was pretty much the end of him as an international class batsman.
Evin Lewis became an out an out white ball specialist
Shai Hope became a gun ODI bat and awful at tests.
Roston Chase is just poo.
Hety can't be arsed to get on flights to play for West Indies.
Sunil Ambris couldn't stop stepping on his own stumps.
Oshane Thomas can't be arsed to bowl more than 4 overs.

Instead we ended up with Nkrumah Bonner, Kyle Mayers, Jermaine Blackwood and Shamarh Brooks. Who could have predicted that?!

Tbf SSC's was equally far off. Very hard to predict Windies cricket. Where even is Yadram nowadays?

2017 - Hameed Gubbins Lawrence Root Livingstone Stokes Bairstow Currans Coad Topley
What a rubbish team - only Root, Stokes, Bairstow I got right. We have found Brooks and don't know how to fit him in when Bairstow is back, so Livingstone might be a 1 Test wonder with another newcomer Rehan Ahmed arriving.

Josh Hazlewood, Mitch Starc, Hilton Cartwright, Arjun Nair, Travis Head, any keeper, Mitch Marsh, Jack Wildermuth, Jack Doran, Austin Waugh were all considered.

Haze left out purely because I wanted to have an 11 with a few young guys, not a team full of 100 game vets.
3 out of 11, be disappointed with that effort in hindsight

Reckon it will be:

1. Tom Latham
2. Devon Conway
3. Kane Williamson
4. Henry Nicholls
5. Daryl Mitchell
6. Tom Blundell
7. Doug Bracewell
8. Ish Sodhi
9. Tim Southee
10. Matt Henry
11. Ajaz Patel

Ross will be retired by 2022. Conway is this guy from South Africa who I think will end up being pretty good for us and since our openers are always a problem I'm putting him in as a long shot. Daryl Mitchell will sneak in as a dark horse I think. Doug Bracewell will come back, Michael is overrated garbage.
One wrong, but I'm pleased with how that turned out.

NZTailender

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
1. Some opener who probably hasn't debuted in FC yet
2. T Latham
3. K Williamson
4. R Ravindra
5. BJ Watling (given up the gloves and elder statesman with the bat at 36/37ish)
6. M Santner
7. T Seifert+
8. Some spinner who is probably like 18 atm
9. T Boult
10. Some seamer who hasn't debuted yet/N Smith
11. N Wagner still sending down the short stuff with vigour at 36/37
Was Conway playing domestic cricket in NZ in 2017? Otherwise some terrible calls. Although at number 10 you could argue Kyle Jamieson.

I'll claim Michael Bracewell for number 8 and by "probably like 18 ATM" I actually meant it would be his Plunket shield batting average for the year

Pretty good overall from @SeamUp. (Miss him!) Most CSA poor selection policy has failed him!
