I can't believe I ate the whole thing
1. Some opener who probably hasn't debuted in FC yet
2. T Latham
3. K Williamson
4. R Ravindra
5. BJ Watling (given up the gloves and elder statesman with the bat at 36/37ish)
6. M Santner
7. T Seifert+
8. Some spinner who is probably like 18 atm
9. T Boult
10. Some seamer who hasn't debuted yet/N Smith
11. N Wagner still sending down the short stuff with vigour at 36/37

I'd pick Kyle Abbott if I knew the eligibility rules.
Umm a spinner, I guess Crane, but could be anyone.
Young offie at Surrey name of Amar Virdi might be interesting.

And a couple of years after that left armer Tyler Meyer.

i think taylor, watling, raval, and wagner will be retired by then and maybe southee/boult too if their injuries continue

latham
ravindra
kane
young
bruce/phillips/allen
leopard
seifert
santa
smith
boult
ferguson

-not sure who will hold #4 and #5 since it's close between the established FC youngsters and finn allen is impressive in age group cricket.
-backing leopard because he has an incredible eye and the current duo are so injury prone.
-seiferts newfound ability this season to curb his natural game and play to the situation displays remarkable maturity for a young nz wicket keeper brought up with #intent
-santa has vettori written all over him
-smith is class, and Ferguson strikes me as someone who can go on a brief period of strike bowling before succumbing to injury
-between wildly fluctuating form and injury im less convinced of southee than i am of boult over the long term

I was hoping SeamUp would put something up for SA as he would probably be pretty close... so he will just have to correct all my mistakes.

Easy picks:
QDK, Rabada, Elgar

Probable picks
Olivier, Ngidi, Markram, Maharaj, de Bruyn, Bavuma

Possible picks
Shamsi, Piedt, J.Smith, Mulder, Phehlukwayo, Parnell, P Malan, Zondo, Hendricks

Potential
Hamza, Galiem, L Williams, Verreynne, Breetzke, Valli, Fortuin, Makhanya, Dill, Cohen, Rickelton, Makwetu

Probably some unknown youngsters to still fill in..... Lots of allrounders and keepers coming through making it that QDK may move up the order.

Test:
Elgar
Markram
Hamza
de Bruyn
Bavuma
QDK/Verreynne/Rickelton+
Smith/Mulder/Galiem
Maharaj/Piedt
Rabada
Ngidi/Phehlukwayo
Olivier

Fulfills all requirements! I am so hoping Hamza comes good, always liked what I`ve seen, think his temperament could solidify SA batting for years, but not a great year this year for him. Keepers and allrounders suddenly coming out of everywhere. Lots of batting quality down to 8/9. Concerns is Bavuma, would need a "black" batsmen ( I don`t like it either but it is reality! hopefully no longer a concern by 2022!); Maybe some unknown youngsters coming through.

Note, both Abbott and RR would be in this team if they had not left!

* SeamUp to make corrections!

I think that would basically be what I would have gone with, although I would have had Parnell instead of Olivier. Not that I really want to see him in the side, but he just never seems to go away, so he's probably still going to be around in five years' time.

Parnell is a bit of a Duminy.... but he has earned his spot recently in the squad, not doing to badly in the County stuff either atm. But with Smith/Mulder/Galiem and even Phehlukwayo his all-round abilities becomes irrelevant and I rate Olivier as a better bowler.

Would like to add some notes to this actually, just so I can look even more stupid when I get this horribly wrong.

- Haze, Handscomb interchangeable as 12th man. I didn't really realize I left Haze out hence why Patto is there. Handscomb however is winning me over in the month since I wrote this. I wouldn't be surprised if he's still there in 2022. Has gumption about him.

- Lehmann is in there because I think he'll be solid enough in FC without being great to get selected eventually, and will have a Shaun Marsh-like or Marcus North-like career but with no footwork in all the test matches he plays. Mark it down right now, he's a future meme player in the making.

- Betting on Peirson more for keeper as I think he'll make the cut. Inglis is going to be perpetually denied as long as the son of Rich Whiteman is at WA so good luck picking a second-string keeper.

- Waugh unironically looks like the boy king. If he doesn't save Australian cricket at the very least, he can consider his career a failure.

- Warner will still be there averaging 45 or 46 on merit of 80 ball hundreds at the Gabba and SCG every summer

Surprised from what I've seen so far that no one is betting on Lyon being around in 2022 as well. That mangled head is full of surprises.

TJB will have lost his **** a thousand times over by 2022, at which time the WPNCOS will still rightfully be Australia's first choice spinner.

I always hate these things because my mind goes through so many options on potential so I rather stay out of them. Like to make calls when I definitely think they Protea material.

Will monitor the 3 batsmen over at the Lions without franchise contracts : Ryan Rickelton, Janneman Malan and Marques Ackerman.

I know Rickelton has been keeping and opening but his opening the batting skills are far more important so I reckon when he gets higher up that will fall away. I am sort of hoping he follows an Elgar route if Markram comes in and is a success so he can eventually replace Elgar. Malan quite an aggressive opening bat so limited overs cricket is where he may make his name first.

CSA hierarchy seem to like Leus du Plooy and Marques Ackerman with the likes of Hamza for 3-6 at this stage but this could change very easily.

Fast bowling looks interesting. Not involved with SA A yet like Ngidi/Olivier/Dala/Magala/Paterson but potential is there and part of CSA pathway. Majority been part of SA u19 or academy currently or in past.

5 bowlers and Handscomb as keeper?

Would be surprised if Smith resigns the captaincy so young. Could happen in another country granted but it's reasonably rare that players play on after they resign the captaincy in Australia.
