I see Matt Breetzke scored 50 on his Lancs 2nd XI debut. The concern here is they wouldn't have picked him if not in their long term thoughts.

It's hugely concerning. We can't keep losing our talent. Especially some of our best. He should meet up with the SA u19 squad in the next week for their series v Windies. Lets hope he hasn't done a Conor McKerr who even sacrificed an u19 WC for a County contract.

Another piece on SA u19 player : http://www.sajr.co.za/news-and-arti...ltz-combination-of-great-talent-and-hard-work

With all colour of skin, ethniticity involved in SA cricket, the Jewish community are seemingly quite proud of seeing Jacob selected here. They've lacked numbers making it professional since Adam Bacher. They used to have quite a few decent one's : Normon Gordon, Ali Bacher, Denis Gamsy, Lawrence Seeff, Terrence Lazard and Mandy Yachad etc

Re: Breetzke, not sure we can read too much into him playing second XI cricket, lots of overseas guys do it.

Mason Crane played for NSW this summer and nobody thought he's about to jump ship.

Think this is a little different though Marius as our players are actively looking to go and vice-versa.

Nothing will surprise me.

Yeah Levi sounds it. Possibly different versions but he certainly isn't Jewish.

Forgot last years SA U19 fast bowler Michael Cohen is another. Fast tracked to SA Academy so seemingly liked in higher corridors.

Ok so. After that pathetic SA 'A' tour they face Australia and India at home.

Shukri Conrad's disappointment : https://www.supersport.com/cricket/sa-a-team/news/170627/We_just_never_got_into_the_game_Conrad

Has Groenkloof even hosted a FC fixture before because never heard of them.

JUL 19-22 @ Groenkloof Stadium

JUL 28 : INDIA (LC de Villiers)
JUL 30 : AUSTRALIA (Groenkloof)
AUG 3 : INDIA (Groenkloof)
AUG 5 : AUSTRALIA (LC de Villiers)

FC V India

AUG 19-22 @ Groenkloof Stadium

Can only see them possibly calling up Vaughn van Jaarsveld and Omphile Ramela from more senior players & realistically both shouldn't play for SA.

They do currently have a HP squad on the go but these are players with not much major FC experience and success behind them yet. So probably keep status quo. Paterson, Hendricks, Dala, Parnell will probably be the seamers.

Bjorn Fortuin, the 22-year-old bizhub Highveld Lions spin bowling allrounder, will have his first opportunity to play for South Africa A in the two four-day matches against Australia A to be played next month.

There is also a recall for Omphile Ramela while David Miller, Wayne Parnell and Dwaine Pretorius, who were involved in the ICC Champions Trophy and were thus not available for South Africa A in the longer format during their tour of England, have also been included.

Ramela and Miller take the places of Theunis de Bruyn and Temba Bavuma who are no longer available as they are part of the Standard Bank Proteas test squad to play England. The same applies to Duanne Olivier who is replaced by Parnell.

“The SA A side had a disappointing tour of England,” commented Cricket South Africa (CSA) Selection Convener, Linda Zondi, “and this series together with the following four-day series against India A is a very important one.

“The additions to the squad bring a lot of top-level experience with them and this will help the younger players to develop.

“Fortuin did very well for the SA Emerging Squad against their Sri Lanka counterparts last year when he took 12 wickets in the first match and played a pivotal role in their winning the series. He has also been a regular member of the Lions franchise squad for some time and we feel he is ready for the next step up.”

The selectors have also named the squad for the triangular one-day series against Australia A and India A. There is a more experienced look about this squad with the inclusion of Aaron Phangiso, Henry Davids and Farhaan Behardien.

“Aiden Markram and Khaya Zondo will continue to captain the four-day and one-day squad respectively,” concluded Zondi.

Not too enthused.

Markram will come home wants Faf is sorted it looks like.

Interesting is Miller, Behardien, Parnell dropping down. Some for their experience and some for confidence.

I know Henry Davids had a great season but is 37. VVJ continues to be snubbed.

Really is an important season 2017/18 to get some more of the next generation through.

Miller isn't really dropping down, he's never been close to Test selection - I'm not sure he's even been in a Test squad.

So, this is actually something for him, the selectors could be looking to him to make the step up to Tests.

I believe he is the holder of the second most ODI caps without a Test cap, or something like that.

True.

Suppose it will be interesting to see how he does compared to others.
