A system that has worked fantastically for us and our success. It's more than just cricket, you become well rounded young men too.

It is also a system getting good cricketers of all races through now.
It is a good system but needs to be expanded particularly with the issues within SA, no matter how much those schools try to include people across SA it is still to small to effectively allow a proper capture of SA society. But as always its not an easy fix and forcing those institutes to take on more burden is not the answer either. Extra effort and other consistent paths need to be created and used to capture talented youngsters, and that is not being managed properly at the moment.

Taking aside political issues. The aim is to produce good cricketers whatever their colour. This system has been excellent and is a success. So I look at it as a major positive.

CSA holds successful AGM | Sport24

159m loss for fiscal year but according to CSA and government we fine because they expecting Aus and Ind this summer which is poor to be basing their hopes on that. They will also need a winning team.

Just on our comments above. The government is giving the CSA hubs 1m + the grant from department of sport. The effort has been here for a few years now which is all you can ask for instead of window dressing. Hopefully results will be seen but no gaurantees just like anything in life.

A winning team is of particular importance. I was not trying to take away from what those schools do, they have been fantastic, just commenting we need more as well. I hope the hubs take-off.

KZN Inland squad includes former SA u19 & KES star Grant Roelofsen who has just moved, Dolphins players Sarel Erwee, Kyle Nipper & Lwandiswa Zuma

COBRAS vs WARRIORS in Oudtshoorn.

2 Two-day games. This SAT-SUN & TUES-WED

Cobras full squad travelled bar van Zyl, Levi & Kleinveldt who are still playing County Cricket. Plus Hashim Amla & Wayne Parnell (Carribean T20). Although all Proteas are available for first round of Sunfoil Series. So Bavuma, Duminy & Philander will travel although Philander playing is fitness permitting.

The Boland players (Pieter Malan, Simon Khomari, Justin Ontong, Lizaad Williams) can only play the first 2-day game as will join up with Boland Africa T20 with up-and-coming spinner Kyle Simmonds who will probably be the stand-out players in the Boland team.

For Warriors. They have a weird squad. No Ackermann, Ingram, Harmer (County cricket) , Cloete (Club cricket in England), JJ Smuts (injured) but lacking batsman. Not sure why Moore & Breetzke aren't in the squad.

WARRIORS squad

Michael PRICE
David WHITE
Yaseen VALLIE
Lesiba NGOEPE
Clyde FORTUIN

Andrew BIRCH
Sisanda MAGALA
Basheer WALTERS
Anrich NORTJE
Aya GQAMANE
Tladi BOKAKO
Ngazibini SIGWILI
Thando MNYAKA

Reckon he needs to get back on the gum. Will help his hammies. But seriously - the test team thrives with his consistency and contribution with the bat. Needs to get his physical conditioning spot on.

Also forgot about that weird World XI thing. That is why Amla isn't with the Cobras. du Plessis, Miller, M.Morkel & Tahir representing. Not sure why we offering such strong names when you look at the rest of the squad.

My feel is our ties with Pakistan cricket have grown in recent times. Hence these Pakistan owners for our T20 and international players for Pakistan picked. Considering the number of Saffers who played in their T20 comp and built good relations. May be another reason for India to hate us.

Quality more like the first weekend. Rather poor.

Not sure if there is a limit on the number of franchise contracted players but feel for VVJ, Savage & Subrayen for what they have to play with for KZN . But there probably are limits.

The frustrating thing is Muthusamy, Chetty, Makanya, Dupavillon, Engelbrecht, Dudgeon, E.Bosch, O.Cele could have done with playing this and made KZN stronger.

Free State defo the stronger on paper from the SA teams particularly the batting order with Gous, du Plooy, Rosier and SA u19 captain van Tonder.

Well done to Kenya though. Should seal a place in finals weekend shortly when they play KZN Coastal. Patel looks quality and Collins Obuya is still around.

I like watching Leus du Plooy. Very hand-eye but there is genuine finess to his batting too.

First time watching SA u19 captain Raynard van Tonder and he does look very accomplished. Compact technique but its the natural ability to rotate strike so young that has impressed. He doesn't look a hitter of the ball for T20 but definite test and 50-over credentials. The talk has been about him & Breetzke for some time and were in their first teams at 14.

Patrick Kruger struggling to hit the ball out the ground which is what he is known for but expect Keegan Petersen to score lots of runs for the Knights this season.

Interesting how the August sun at these grounds seemingly isn't intense enough to get a bit more speed into the pitches. I know they can get pace and carry in northern Australia in July and August, slightly closer to the equator.

Been thinking on this and all I can think is with most of the country being summer rainfall (bar CT and a bit of Southern Cape) conditions are just too dry. The minimum temperatures are low too. That with history suggests all our out grounds have never really been quick pitches bar Potch at certain times.

If anything I would say Wanderers is our quickest with Centurion, Bloem, CT and Potch follwing.

The change has been that Durban has lost its pace and bounce and in recent times CT has gained more pace and bounce.

Opening Round of Sunfoil Series. What will the teams look like ? Gibson wants all the Proteas players to play but he might get his first shock in that it can't happen. Shocking the amount of talent that has to miss out and not just on the opening week.
