Surprising... still had lots to contribute. Probably was not happy with the other stuff..
A solid professional who had to work hard to get where he was as he got limited early opportunities. Had a good couple of seasons at Leicestershire and a season in the IPL where he got Tendulkar out if I remember.

It can only be. When you keeping younger players like Corne Dry out of squads. Part of this process is we will lose hardened professionals like this.

Following on from Harmer :

Proteas batsman Colin Ingram has extended his stay with Glamorgan until 2019 by signing a new two-year contract to continue playing white-ball cricket.

Ingram will be available for all T20 Blast and Royal London One-Day Cup matches in the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

The left-hander signed for Glamorgan in 2015 as a Kolpak player having played 31 ODIs and nine T20I for South Africa.

He enjoyed a successful first season with the Welsh County, scoring 1712 runs in all formats, which included two County Championship hundreds and three in List A cricket.

A knee injury prevented Ingram from playing any first-class cricket during 2016, however he enjoyed a stellar season in the One-Day format, with his 502 runs and record-equalling 29 sixes in the T20 Blast helping Glamorgan secure a home quarter-final.

His legspin was another useful weapon in the competition where he took a career-best 3 for 20 against Somerset to get Glamorgan into the last eight of the NatWest Blast and bettered those figures in the quarter-final against Yorkshire Vikings in Cardiff taking 4 for 32.

Following Ingram’s excellent form in 2016 and in the early part of 2017 he was awarded his County Cap before the start of play in Glamorgan’s Royal London One-Day Cup match against Surrey last Sunday where he scored 72.

"I am delighted to commit to Glamorgan," said Ingram.

"I've been made very welcome at the club and have made a lot of friends so it was an easy decision to extend my time here in Wales.

"Being presented with my Glamorgan cap by club legend Alan Jones was a great honour so I'm determined to continue delivering my best for the club and myself. After being sidelined by injury from first-class cricket last year I'll be focusing more on the white-ball game from next season.

"However I'm intent on playing for Glamorgan across all formats for the rest of this season and will do everything I can to ensure we enjoy a successful year."

Glamorgan chief executive Hugh Morris added: "Colin is a fantastic player and has been a great addition to the team since arriving in 2015.

"He is a major part of our squad on the field and in the dressing room. His form in the T20 Blast last year was exceptional and he proved himself to be one of the most destructive batsmen in the game with the bat and surprised many opponents with the ball.

"It is a big coup for Glamorgan to sign Colin for another two years. His experience and leadership will help develop our younger players and hopefully enable us to build on the success we enjoyed in the white-ball game over recent seasons so we can challenge for trophies."

Having missed out narrowly on championship opportunities in the recently-completed season, the Hollywoodbets Dolphins have announced a strong squad that coach Grant Morgan hopes can bring success back to the Durban-based franchise in the 2017/18 season.

After being in the hunt in all three competitions for a majority of their campaigns, coach Morgan was disappointed that his side couldn’t press on and bring home much-wanted silverware. However, the coach believes that with a strong core of players, and a few astute signings, they can break their silverware drought.

“If you look back on the season, we were unlucky in the four-day campaign which was probably the most disappointing for me,” Morgan mentioned.

“We were in the top three of all three competitions after seven games and were first in both the Sunfoil Series and the Momentum One Day Cup, so to miss out was tough.

“Despite losing a couple of players for next season, I think we have a strong squad that will grow.”

The Dolphins will be without the services of a handful of long-time servants, including Cameron Delport, Craig Alexander, Daryn Smit and Divan van Wyk.

Smit had announced his retirement from professional cricket until a contract was offered by Derbyshire County Cricket Club, which he accepted. Divan van Wyk has retired from cricket while Craig Alexander has moved north to the bizhub Highveld Lions.

Cameron Delport is currently playing county cricket for Leicestershire County Cricket Club in the United Kingdom and will be out of a contract in the new season.

“With Daryn moving on and Divan retiring from the game, it has left some holes but signing a guy like Dane Vilas is a solid replacement, and Sarel Erwee is starting to come into his own, which is encouraging.

“All these guys were terrific players for the Dolphins over the years,” Morgan added.

A number of the Dolphins players shone at various stages of last season, which led to a few moving into the national ranks, but some performed consistently for the Dolphins, something Morgan is hoping to see more of next season.

“It’s great to see a guy like Khaya (Zondo) being selected to lead the SA ‘A’ team in England this year, he’s performed really well.

“We need to create a winning culture and draw on players who have been successful and played at that higher level.

“There are some younger players in the side that can look to the likes of Vaughn (Van Jaarsveld), Rob (Frylinck), Morné (van Wyk) and Dane and use their experience to grow as players.

“A guy like Eathan Bosch, who is young and has taken wickets in the amateur set-up, will need to bide his time and learn and grow within our squad.

“Okuhle Cele has been selected for the national academy and in the High Performance squad, he too will need to grow along with a guy like Smangaliso Nhlebela,” Morgan added.

Bolstering up the bowling stocks was a priority for the Dolphins following a taxing season on the experienced seam attack of Mthokozisi Shezi and Rob Frylinck.

“With Daryn Dupavillon back, who can bowl at 140km/h, Lwandiswa Zuma, Rabian Engelbrecht, Eathan Bosch, Okuhle and Calvin Savage, we have bowlers that can back up our front two senior men.

“Rob and Shezi bowled so many overs last season but this season we might be able to afford to rotate our quicker bowlers,” he said.

In the semi-professional ranks at the KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union there have been two new signings, Michael Erlanck joins the union from Free State and Keith Dudgeon is added to the amateur outfit from Gauteng.

“Michael Erlanck will definitely add good cover for us. He has played a lot of first-class cricket for the Knights.

“Keith is another bowling all-rounder who can bowl fast and will also bolster our stocks for what is going to be another long season,” Morgan concluded.

Nice looking squad for SA u19s

Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Wednesday named the 15-man, Coca-Cola South Africa under-19s squad that will take on 2016 ICC U19 World Cup winners, West Indies in a five-match, Youth One-Day International (ODI) series from 09 to 19 July 2017 in Durban and Pietermaritzburg.

Raynard van Tonder, who was named as the new team captain, will have nine new caps to lead, including Thando Ntini, son of former Proteas fast bowler, Makhaya. The remaining six boasts players who were part of the team that beat Sri Lanka in an ODI series in January of this year, including experienced campaigner Wandile Makwetu, who is the most capped player in the side, having made his debut at the 2016 World Cup in Bangladesh.

Coach, Lawrence Mahatlane is pleased with the team selected and believes that this series will do well to begin the team’s preparation for the 2018 U19 World Cup in New Zealand.

“Testing ourselves against the world champions is an ideal opportunity for us as a team to see where we are with the 2018 World Cup just around the corner. It is an exciting team with only six players having previously represented South Africa, this is a great opportunity for those selected to showcase their talent.”

CSA High Performance Manager, Vincent Barnes said; “With the ICC U19 World Cup only a few months away, the West Indies series is a very important series for our team. There have been a few changes to the squad that beat Sri Lanka earlier this year and the West Indies, who are the current World Cup champions will provide the required stiff opposition for the home side.”

South Africa will arrive in Durban on 28 June, while West Indies will arrive on the 30th.

I did not realize Thando Ntini was actually Makhaya son.... bodes well.
That's a very nice fast bowling group. All can bat as well.

I think this team could give a good account of themselves. Won't be too many changes ahead of the world cup I would imagine. van Tonder and Breetzke should get more amateur cricket into them. Also excited to see a bit of Jacob Miltz who there is a bit of a buzz about. Once again the Lions are the biggest contributors to SA u19 teams.

Don't think he ever played major domestic cricket in SA.

Remember calling Tom Curran out when he left SA after being part of CSA u17 camps even though a Zimbo at boarding school.

One of the best if not the best fast bowlers at Csa u15 week last year was a lad called Michael Booth. Exact sam circumstances and school as Curran. He just won KZNI u15 cricketer of the year and had a very good first term with Hilton College first XI. Wonder what his future holds. SA, Zim, Eng. I think with our difficulties it wouldnt surprise me if he made a similar move as Curran if the opportunity arose.

A few bits and bobs for SA u19 squad.

St Andrews Bloem have had a few players in SA u19/SA Schools squads in recent years but never had one break into the professional cricket with much success. They've always lived in the shadow of Grey Bloem.

Their two stars go back to Lindsay Tuckett and Peter Carlstein who both played for SA.

Great little piece with Gerald Coetzee and their Lindsay Tuckett High Performance Centre. They genuinely believe he will go all the way with the hard work to come.

Gerald Coetzee selected for SA u19 cricket team | St Andrew's School - Bloemfontein

Probable team

Breetzke
Makwetu (wk)
Christensen
van Tonder (c)
Miltz
Mokgakane
Coetzee
Jones
Ntini
Smith
de Klerk

* Breetzke or Miltz could easily keep wicket too.

Pillay (reserve opening bat) - may open with him and put Makwetu down the order.
Rolfes (reserve middle order)
Campher (will push Jones & Ntini)
Molefe (will push Smith/de Klerk)

CSA 2017 Academy launch yesterday evening.

19 year-old Michael Cohen replaced Ngidi. That is a fair effort from him. They must rate him as older guys like Dudgeon, Glover and even contemporaries like Sipamla (who will no doubt be next year) weren't chosen.

CRICKET SOUTH AFRICA (CSA) today launched this year’s Powerade National Academy Programme for the selected men’s and women’s squads inspired by the results achieved by last year’s intake.

Several candidates from last year’s squad such as Mbulelo Budaza, Bjorn Fortuin, and Leus du Plooy went on to serve their franchises with distinction while Patrick Kruger was named Africa T20 Cup Player of the tournament, Jason Smith was selected for South Africa A and Andile Phehlukwayo went all the way to become a regular fixture in the Standard Bank Proteas limited overs squad.

CSA also announced the appointment of Malibongwe Maketa as head coach for this year’s Academy Programme which runs until the end of July to be followed by the SA Emerging Squad tour of Zimbabwe in August for two four-day matches and three List A unofficial ODIs.

The women’s programme will take place in September and October 2017. The modification of the dates will allow the National Women’s Coaching staff to work with both the National and Emerging women cricketers in preparation for the ICC Women’s Championship campaign which begins in January 2018.

“The National Academy Programme forms a very strategic part of our developmental pipeline,” commented CSA General Manager: Cricket, Corrie van Zyl, “and has as its aim to prepare young players for the demands of professional cricket. These selected players that are carefully identified include previous graduates of the SA U/19 programme, performing Senior Provincial and emerging Franchise players.

“This past year saw a highly successful SA Emerging Squad home series against Sri Lanka and it has been highly encouraging to see the manner in which a number of them have gone on to the next level of making their franchise squads while one, Andile Phehlukwayo, made his debut for the Standard Bank Proteas.

“This confirms that this programme is living up to its expectations to assist CSA and its Members to develop the identified players in such a way that will produce quality players for our domestic competitions as well as prepare them for future international participation.

“Once again I must extend our thanks to Powerade. As the CSA High Performance programme sponsor, they have made a meaningful impact on the development of these upcoming players,” concluded Van Zyl.

Powerade SA National Academy Men’s Squad: Karabo Mogotsi (Gauteng), Wihan Lubbe (North West), Yaseen Vallie (Gauteng), Tony de Zorzi (Northerns), Janneman Malan (North West), Senuran Muthusamy (KZN), Isaac Digale (North West), Michael Cohen (WP), Lwandiswa Zuma (Free State), Tladi Bokako (EP), Okuhle Cele (KZN), Migael Pretorius (Northerns), Ndumiso Mvelase (Gauteng), Kyle Simmonds (Boland), Thomas Kaber (Northerns), Kyle Verrynne (WP), Matthew Christensen (EP), Wiaan Mulder (Gauteng)

Mulder will join the squad once he has completed his SA A commitments.

Management team: Malibongwe Maketa (Head Coach), Shane Burger (Assistant Coach), Nandile Tyali (Fitness Trainer), Michael Gwilliams (Physio), Hendrikus Coertzen (Video Analyst)

2 warm-up games for SA 'A' washed out but I don't think it's the strongest competition.

Zondo & Smith were the best in the first game.
Hendricks and de Bruyn in the 2nd.

Next up is England Lions.
