Best Current Partnerships

Not Terrible
What two guys at the crease together are the best for each time? Just saw a tweet that McCullum called Williamson/Taylor the best 3/4 punch in the world, and it got me thinking of what other quality pairings we get right now.

Amla + AB and Rahim + Shakib are two international ones that come to mind.

Looking at some ODI partnerships by run rate could be a better line of inquiry (qual. 1000 runs)

1. Amla/De Villiers 2950 runs at 75.64, 6.50 rpo
2. Hales/Roy 1155 runs at 41.25, 6.34 rpo
3. Dhoni/Sharma 1024 runs at 44.52, 6.03 rpo
4. Finch/Warner 1545 runs at 39.61, 5.96 rpo
5. De Villiers/Miller 1303 runs at 46.53, 5.96 rpo
6. De Kock/Du Plessis 1451 runs at 55.80, 5.95 rpo
7. De Villiers/Du Plessis 1654 runs at 45.94, 5.92 rpo
8. Ramdin/Samuels 1013 runs at 44.04, 5.83 rpo
9. De Villiers/Duminy 2411 runs at 53.57, 5.81 rpo
10. Guptill/Latham 1240 runs at 47.69, 5.76 rpo (there ya go Athers)

  • Honourable mention: Buttler/Morgan - 916 runs at 41.63, 7.44 frikin rpo
  • De Villiers makes everyone else look good
  • Indian partnerships involving people like Tendulkar, Ganguly, Dhoni and Sehwag were the only ones that compared to Amla/AB in terms of volume of runs and still struck at 6+. But of course they haven't batted together in the last year. Still, shows that they were doing it first.

Smith has to be getting runs with someone right? Someone crunch the numbers for him plus Warner and him plus Uzi

He was a solid unit for a blind ginger was Chris Rogers.

The Warner/Smith partnership is surprisingly mediocre, seems Usman is their talisman for runs.

Whatever it takes!!!
Just shows our best ODI batting line up even now has to be:

Dhawan
Rohit
Kohli
Yuvi
MSD

Also how cool is it that all of India's top 5, both in tests and ODIs, feature in those lists :)

Not after this series they won't be. #intent

All I can say is every Test in that England and India series usually ended up with the two ginger northerners, Stokes and Bairstow, having to repair the carnage caused by a collapsing upper order - having to play uncharacteristic cricket as they both usually go at a good strike rate. Every time I turned on the telly, this was what came on the screen haha
