Best Looking Cricket Grounds

Couldn't disagree more and I'd almost guarantee if you ever get the chance to watch cricket at Adelaide Oval you will not be coming away thinking it's crap.

I've been before and since the renovations and whilst I did love the charm of the old ground, what they have achieved there is just incredible. You have a 40,000 capacity modern sports stadium but when your sat on the hill looking at the old scoreboard it doesn't feel like it at all.
I'll put this,

with the best of them.

Big boundaries at this ground. 6 runs if you clear Mount Everest
Speaking of the Himalayas for some reason there isn't a picture of Dharamsala in the thread

I know it's supposed to be all about the mountains but that spangly technicolour pavilion is pretty out there as well

This is a cool thread.
Yeah, really enjoying it. Great to see two of my favourites in Galle and Dharamsala feature. Galle is particularly amazing considering the damage it suffered in the tsunami.

Not exactly pretty, but I did enjoy my season playing for Coldstream CC in Mid Canterbury. It was the ultimate rural club - the ground was a paddock with traditional No 8 wire fencing around the outside. We got changed and sat outside the hall across the road before crossing the road to go in to bat. Disappointing lack of sheep to root during the innings break, mind.

This was a favourite of mine growing up (sports fields bottom left).

My local ground, Birchgrove Oval. None prettier in Sydney imo

Edit: more Birchgrove, cos it's seriously beautiful, in the best part of Sydney and it's full of history - the first Rugby League game in Australia was played here in 1908, plus my grandfather played here for the Tigers before WW2. I take Burgeinho down for a net there pretty often. Its one of my favourite places in Sydney.

This is a park down at Woonoona near Wollongong where Burgeinho played a rep game this season. The ground itself isn't anything too exciting but the backdrop is gorgeous. Apologies for the massive pic.

IMO, NZ is the most beautiful country and some of their grounds are absolutely stunning.

In the UK, I played on a couple of incredible privately owned grounds (e.g. in the grounds of a medieval castle where the moat formed one boundary) and will try to dig out some photos

In the meantime, Social Jnr's home ground is on the river below.

Not a bad place to while away a few hours on a Saturday morning

By far the best that Singapore has. Love how there's a cricket ground bang in the middle of town, massive skyscrapers and the parliament house.

I'm definitely joining SCC when I'm out of Uni. Membership is pricey but the facilities are awesome and I'll likely be working in the area anyways so it won't be that hard to have a net after work. Also turf wickets are so much more fun, quite sick of mediocre medium pacers doing well on astro.

Interestingly it's also held a couple of international ODIs. The most famous of which was when Jayasuriya scored 134(64).
