Bit of a bugger for Sussex who have invested in him when he was injured and have signed him for 2019 if he suddenly has to take up an overseas role.

Tres, Stevens, Sanga, and Shiv all scoring tons, cummalitive age of that lot pretty decent.
Zero sympathy, risk you take when poaching a talented youngster from abroad. Moral hazard absolutely must exist.

Barbados wasn't giving him games and weren't willing to help him through his injuries. So his option would have been giving up the game or just earning nothing and hoping somehow he could heal himself from his injuries with little or no assistance. Sussex gave him a life-line.

Anyway, let's bloody face it he's not going to team up with the WICB now, can't even think why anyone would do that, unless he just wants to be called an International player before becoming a job-in T20 player, which let's face it is the fate of most talented West Indians nowadays.

Fair comments, I think broadly speaking though when England counties poach young players this isn't the case is it?

Virdi debuting today (in place of Batty) for Surrey. Heard some good things.

Interesting approach by Worcestershire to bowl first today when they have a international spinner in the team, Northampton sometimes taking spin, and the weather as it is

Six wickets to spin before lunch at Taunton. It might just be Hampshire being terrible at batting again though, that is 3 lamentable innings in a row.

I expected us to hugely reliant on Abbott with the ball but it seems he has to score half our runs as well.

Sounds like terrible at batting. Leach getting some nice flight/drift on the Bailey dismissal which partly explains why he left middle and off wide open.

Just watching a few of the wickets from today. The Bess Vince dismissal was good. Did him with the drift and then gated him.

Virdi looks pretty tidy as well. Looked to be putting some real revs on the ball.

Just logged in to say Darren Stevens you are a cricketing god! Most wickets (29 @ 12.06) and 2nd most runs (440 @ 62.85) so far in div 2. It might not be Test match level or doing it in div.1 but for a 41 year old he's so soo good, a mini Ben Stokes.

Ervine, bowling offspin, in front of Crane in the bowling pecking order. Probably shouldn't ink Crane in for a test debut this year then. Then again it probably takes one good game on tv for they hype train to reignite.
