That bowling line up looks vulnerable. Parnell, Tahir and Rabada have alot of work to do! Our middle order likes to collapse ATM, and that batting looks full strength, so who knows.

Is Philander injured? He'll be key in the Test matches.

For the NZ squad, it's pretty much set in stone. I wish Nicholl's was in the ODI side, and not the Test but there you go..

Latham
Guptill
KW
RT
Broom
Munro (looks terrible doesn't he, but when he gets it right..)
Neesham
Santner
Ferguson
Southee
Boult

Sodhi
Worker
Wheeler

That's probably how we'll shape up, but Brownlie will probably be there for Worker. I don't know what to do with Munro. I feel he needs time to set himself up and get his crapness out of the way early, instead of coming in and trying to smash it. But Broom deserves his spot, and KW and RT aren't moving. Latham hasn't been performing consistently at all, could drop him lower... I don't know.

Medium term there's only two spots for Broom/Munro/Neesham imo, not three, and maybe less than two if someone else is pushing hard for a spot (Bruce, a wicket keeper etc) and the incumbent hasn't nailed it down. Right now, can treat it like a trial of all three.

Firstly, we're bowling-light with those three combining to make up only about half a bowler - we could use more/better from them. Secondly, neither Munro nor Neesham have shown much ability to hit as soon as they arrive at the crease, so I don't like either of them at 7. Someone like Seifert or Clarkson in a couple of years might be a good fit there.

I hope Ngidi has a long and injury-free career, but I must admit to being relieved that he's missing this tour. Exciting young fast bowlers have a history of blitzing us the first time we face them, and I was fearing more of the same here.

No, maybe some slight niggles but nothing special. He is now a test specialist for SA.. letting the younger guys do the work in the LO stuff.
I wonder if he will get a couple of games for the Cobras in the 50-over stuff to keep him sharp?

Hope so... there is 5 ODI`s; maybe he can arrive early and play in the last one. Is there a warm-up match before the Test series?

I'm glad Vern is bowling well and I'm really glad he did well in Aus.

Remember when all the Aussie posters were saying he was a useless fatty and would pretend to be injured so he didn't have to bowl on flat decks?

Doesn't look like it.

There are also only four days before the last ODI and the 1st Test.

Very sweet indeed. Adelaide on the tour before last made it look so bad.

Is it me, or has he stopped chewing gum ?

I never get sick of hearing the famous yulp of "ketchiiiit"

Is his school, Ravensmead, decent?

Is it known for its cricket or his he an outlier, like Steyn who went to Phalaborwa High or something.

Very much an outlier. It's part of the Cape Flats but traditionally northern suburbs whether white or coloured haven't been big producers for western province but it is growing now with Vern, Paterson, B.Hendricks and Linde with Eric Simons/Renier Munnik in the past.

It's a T20 on Tuesday at EPOO, weather permitting. Forecast looks dubious at this stage (doesn't look too flash for the T20I on Friday either at the moment...)

Ok, it's weird they're selected the T20 squad prior to that match then. So if the likes of Taylor or Milne look anywhere near their best, it kind of counts for nothing. Probably to do with tight scheduling.

I shouldn't be so cynical. but we should run a sweep on the next injury Milne picks up

Yeah, I'm a bit baffled by that as well. But it's great to see Phillips in there.
