Never quite got this Umpire's Call nonsense. Seems like a leftover thrown to the family dog under the table; "yeah bro, the tech tells us you done ****ed up, but we'll let you scrape through with some dignity in tact."
The rationale is about pretending the umpires still actually provide some value. If they just ignored the umps decision and went 100% of whether it's hitting the stumps on ball tracker, then you need to ask why have umpires at all on televised games? :p

Indians chirp so much when they're playing well and high on confidence. Completely wilt when it goes the other way. Such wannabes. The true ****s like Haddin stay consistent.

Yup, she's a different game when the pressure's on, no doubt about that.

Btw, can anyone explain why the screamer hasn't bowled yet? This wicket will suit his subtle natural variations down to the ground won't it?

I think it's about preserving the prior intent of the rule, which was about certainty. If the ball is shaving the leg stump but there's reasonable doubt it wouldn't have been given LBW before (assuming correct umpiring) hence it still isn't. Otherwise you're changing the basic function of the law.

Admittedly this logic doesn't extend to, say, run outs.

Scary number of rollers here on day two. Dunno how Smith kept the last bowl of the previous over out tbh.

Well that is true, people often forget that ball tracker is just a prediction on LBWs, it's not 100%.

tbf Yadav's going to get it to shoot the most from anyone this game. Jadeja as well.

I reckon Vettori would have be useful on this surface... his uncanny accuracy, no real turn and just let the pitch do the work.

Both are looking so uncomfortable out there, but somehow find a way not to get out.

Good from Renshaw, I don't mind him playing a little expansively, no point just waiting for a ball with your number on it.

Lol Kohli now sledging Renshaw who in turn is laughing at him. Virat's hat tip to sportsmanship lasts as long as he isn't under the pump.
