that's right, and the runner was in his crease but Kaif forgot and so left his crease and was unable to get back in because he cramped up.

hahahah. so good. I remember Ganguly's face
Didn't Warne or some Aussie get run out in similar circumstances too? god we need these things on youtube

I don't envy those from NZ trying to come up with their worst XI when they have so many to choose from. They really are spoilt for choice here!

A lot of these are selections where players have come in for a handful of Tests, been rubbish, and swiftly dumped.

I challenge anyone to come up with an XI of players who were persisted with for a reasonable length of time despite being really mediocre. Shane Watson and Martin Guptill immediately strike me as being the two best examples of what I'm looking for, although they're quite rare.

Bopara for England a decent fit.

Bit difficult to do it for a given country this century, but I'll have a crack at a combined XI:

  1. Martin Guptill (47 Tests; 2586 @ 29.38; 8 @ 37.25)
  2. Lahiru Thirimanne (26 Tests; 1056 @ 24.00, 0 @ -)
  3. Ravi Bopara (13 Tests; 575 @ 31.94, 1 @ 290.00)
  4. Suresh Raina (18 Tests; 768 @ 26.48, 13 @ 46.38)
  5. Yuvraj Singh (40 Tests; 1900 @ 33.92, 9 @ 60.77)
  6. James Franklin (31 Tests; 808 @ 20.71, 82 @ 33.97)
  7. Mitchell Marsh (19 Tests; 626 @ 23.18, 29 @ 37.27)
  8. Carlton Baugh (21 Tests; 610 @ 17.94, 43c/5s)
  9. Farveez Maharoof (22 Tests; 556 @ 18.53, 25 @ 65.24)
  10. Ajit Agarkar (26 Tests; 571 @ 16.79, 58 @ 47.32)
  11. Mohammad Sami (36 Tests; 487 @ 11.59, 85 @ 52.74)

Not read the whole thread but would struggle to disagree with Howe's side other than I'd bring Ian Blackwell in for Ansari and Darren Pattinson for Mahmood

TBH the latter didn't exactly disgrace himself but had no business being there

There's actually a decent(ly dire) non English born/raised England XI to be made:

1) NRD Compton (SA)
2) SA Robson (Aus)
3) GS Ballance (Zim)
4) OA Shah (Pak)
5) EJG Morgan (Ire)
6) C White (Aus)
7) GO Jones+ (PNG/Aus)
8) CJ Jordan (WI)
9) DJ Pattinson (Aus)
10) WB Rankin (Ire)
11) A Khan (Den)

Maybe stretching a point with Owais as he grew up here, but he could be replaced with Tim Ambrose as a specialist bat.

Surprised that Franklin's bowling average was that low. Thought it'd be higher.

Whatever it takes!!!
They showed a package of his keeping titled "Poor Parthiv" on the big screen and Ganguly saw that and turned away from Parthiv in disgust on the field.

There was a period where he had the 3rd or 4th best SR in history. His bowling pre-2006 injury was so vastly different from what turned up later in his career it's not funny. Could hit 140 and swing the ball significantly.

Edit: I was way off, and thinking about Shane Bond. IIRC someone posted a filtered list for x wickets taken at a certain point and Franklin was surprisingly high. Pre-injury Franklin was up there for the amount of wickets he'd taken. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/en...7;spanval1=span;template=results;type=bowling

Edit 2: Was probably thinking of this. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/en...6;spanval1=span;template=results;type=bowling

So - non-striker leaves his crease in attempt to get a head start on a possible run, bowler runs him out - people are outraged by this.
Injured batsman instinctively sets off for a run, collapses due to injury, Gilchrist "gleefully" runs him out - yeah, that's fine.

I'll never understand the "rules" of "sportsmanship".
