Your Greatest "5 year Peak" Test XI (post 1970)

Let's limit it to cricketers debuting after 1970 in which a more concentrated number of tests were played.

Looking purely for the best 5 year periods which can be derived from any stage of a players career, but must be a minimum of 5 years. If you can post their stats from that period, even better

Still contemplating mine.

I think he is just making a hardmode option, like most do with Bradman. Everyone is going to pick Gilly here yeah.

My greatest 5 year period would be from '05-'10 probably. I was in the squad for Singapore U15s at one point and used to open both batting and bowling for my school. Had my picture and name in the paper once as well.

All went downhill from there though, I've only managed a high score of about 40 for my uni.

Impressive, Mohammad Yousuf had a crazy period between 2002-2006 IIRC, Ponting similar number in that period

Holy shizzers, there I was thinking Botham 77-82 was out on his own.

In Ponting's best 52 test period he averaged 70. Not sure how many years it was though.

*Seventy*. Fmd.

Sobers averaged 74 over his best stretch of 50 tests. Only this was over an 11 year period.

Yes. 74 average over a full decade.

He has got one of the worst decline too otherwise his overall stats could have been more ecstatic

Wow, that should be enough to get Ponting in my XI.

I think Ponting scored 100s in both innings of a Test thrice in that timeframe as well.

EDIT: He actually did it thrice in a 4-month period between Nov. 2005 and Mar. 2006, over 8 Tests.
