I'd go Amla. He is definitely SA's most important Test bat overall at the moment, even more so than ABdV. I'm surprised they won a series against Aus without a major contribution from him.

That being said, KP on his day was insane. A few of his Test innings were some of the best ever played. He just tried to dominate too often and it cost him in the long run.

Amla for consistency, but KP had an x-factor that's undeniable. If I had a team with weak batting prone to collapsing I'd go Amla, but in an already successful XI I'd have KP.

Amla as he was more consistent but KP not that far away given how many unbelievable innings he was capable of over his career.
