Give 48 to 72 hours window at the start of each quarter. Drafters can trade their picks in that period but managing points will become a headache for you so keep that in mind as well.

So I have been thinking about a trade period would work:
Teams need to be fixed in the set positions for each quarter.
So to allow a little flexibility in trades, and since we are making good progress before scoring begins in 2017, we will halt the draft before the final (14th) round for 4 days (negotiable) to allow ppl to organise trades. This will enable you to trade different positions since you can fill the gap with your last pick, otherwise you would be pretty much locked into like for like.
You can trade multiple players.
You can trade your last draft pick.

There would be a trade period before every quarter.

I'm not having high expectations that heaps of trades will go through but am keen to give it a chance if people are keen.

Does the original structure of 6 Batsmen, 2 ARs, 1 WK, and 5 Bowlers have to be followed? Or can it be abandoned? To what degree? Can a side go without a keeper or an AR completely? etc...

The original structure still needs to be followed.
The purpose of doing it before the final round is to enable, for example, a trade of a bowler out for a batsman in so long as you have an empty batting slot, then you could fill the bowling slot in the last round.
