Don't disagree, but will be surprised if they take Amla along and he is not in first team initially. Expect Amla to open and Markram at 3. van der Dussen extra batsmen.

I'm going with MrPrez's team but would also understand if Amla started although I do think he isn't dynamic enough and his eyes have gone.

Also hope they don't think Lucky and Hulk can play in the same team on too many occasions.

Hulk?

It'd be disappointing if they played Amla over van den Dussen. Amla has shown nothing recently while van den Dussen has been solid. Picking Amla over Reeza in the squad is justifiable because neither has played well recently - so rather take the guy with more upside.

Van den Dussen has actually scored runs, meaning he is the better option.

Dwaine.

Maybe do it up north like Durham if we have a game there & not one of the elite teams in Cardiff.

We must stick to 3 quicks and back their accuracy. I remember in Champs Trophy a few years ago how we bowled to short on that slow Cardiff pitch against India and the extra pace was dealt with. We can't do that this time.

Give a play off between Amla, Markram and Dussen during warm up? Else we play top 6 bats, 4 first choice bowlers (Rabad, Steyn, Ngidi, Tahir). Possibly have a play off between Andile and Dwaine during warm-up as well? We must not try extend batting by playing second choice bowlers.

It would be a big call, but I would not even mind us playing Nortje and going all out on the bowler front considering I wonder how much Dwaine or Andile actually add with the bat/ball!

Do you know what warm-up games we have and how many ?

Supposedly they join up 12 May for camp.

Pretty comprehensive list that (above).....

Of real interest to me as potential future prospects and to see form:

Batsmen : de Bruyn, de Zorzi, Rickelton, van Tonder, Petersen, Breetzke, Qeshile, Marais, J Malan, Hamza, Bedingham, Verreynne
Bowlers: Coetzee, Bosch, Dupavillion, Burger, Sipamla, Piedt
Allrounders: Smith and Mulder

and of course Bavuma, Elgar, Maharaj and Philander, but they in SA test team anyway. Bavuma and Elgar hanging by a thread if anybody starts showing real form next year. Philander unsure for India in main team.

Pretty good prospects suddenly on batting and bowling starting to look light?

I wouldn't say so. Rmember, you've excluded Nortje and Ngidi from that list - we already have 5 pacers in the set-up before you consider guys like Burger, Sipambla etc. Whereas in the batting the guys you've mentioned are really ALL we have. There aren't any fringe guys between being regulars and in your list.

One against SL and the other WI, 24th and 26th? Maybe could get another one in if allowed?
There's nothing to prevent the team from playing an extra warm up game or two against who so ever. As long as the ICC scheduled warm ups are not skipped.

Some 1996 WC memories. Another tournament we blitzed everyone to come unstuck in the QF's by Brian Charles Lara masterclass.

Albie Morkel - he peaked between two World Cups, so went to the Champions Trophy in 2009 but didn't make it to the 2011 World Cup.

It was always going to be this team going to England. Dwaine Pretorius is one lucky guy. He hasn't done anything to justify his selection IMO.

He performed for a long time domestically, and eventually came good near the end of SL series. He is lucky because none of the other contenders did anything either. So it was pick on potential or pick experience... they went for experience. And team dynamic would be important here as well.
