Though Nicholls had a bad time of it I think he'll keep his spot at least till the South Africa series. Hesson gave 13 tests to Fulton and 16 each to Rutherford and Guptill before they were dropped, and Nicholls has now played 9. Unless someone is really tearing it up in the Shield, he'll remain at 5 for now. The only top 7 batsmen to not get a sustained run under Hesson are Brownlie and Ronchi, he probably sees them as horses for courses (that, or he has something against Western Australians).

You're probably right, but the guy with a FC average of nigh-on 50, a superb conversion rate, two big double tons and a Shield century in the last match should be playing. He's the best #5 in the country.

And hey, I know I'll get accused of being a homer, and I'll admit I love the bloke. But there's nowhere in the world, that I'm aware, where a bloke with his FC record isn't getting a go at the top level. Spose the argument could be made that he averages 9 for NZ A. But he has to be next cab off the rank.

Probs a few blokes in SA's 2nd tier. There's a few Indian bats knocking about too with ridiculous looking stats too, iirc.

I feel like it's about time, too.

Although they're a good team these days playing Bangladesh in our own conditions is one of the easier transitions into test level, so it'd make sense to give him a go at 5 straight away. I'd hate to see Nicholls fail or get middling results against them and then Munro or a new bloke has to play against our favourite bowlers - Philander/Rabada.

Definitely agree. Unfortunately 2-0 sweeps aren't usually the catalyst for change.

I wouldn't be against Munro getting a run, as long as he has developed his game against spin. Has been made to look silly at times. If he's able to bowl, even better.

He won't be bowling, body wise and although he debuted in FC cricket as a #11 specialist bowler, he's not really an option at all anymore. But I definitely expect him to be named in a Test squad for Bangladesh - replacing Brownlie from this series. Whether he plays or not, it's not going to

I don't know how the Future Tours Programme works, but I've just looked at the pdf online - no cricket apart from the Champions Trophy between April and December??
