2016/17 New Zealand First-Class Season Draft

Kippax

Cricketer Of The Year

I think Athlai said he would've liked Tests included in this last season, so this time we'll look at points being gained in the seven to be played (there's two against Pakistan, two against Bangladesh and three against South Africa).

Be mindful that the likes of Munro will have potential selection in ODIs/T20Is clashing with five out of the ten Plunket Shield rounds.

Batting
Each Run Scored: 1 point
Duck: -10 points
Opener Scores a Century: 25 bonus points
King of the Engine Room (drafted player with most runs batting at Nos. 7-11): 100 bonus points

Bowling
Each Wicket Taken: 25 Points
Innings bowling average 20 or under: 10 Points (min. 5 overs)
Bowling economy rate 4 or above: -10 Points (min. 5 overs, bowling average must be above 30)

Example
Bowler A = 0/100 (24) = -10 points
Bowler B 5/27 (5) = 135 points
Bowler C 5/120 (26) = 125 points
Bowler D 1/118 (50) = 25 points
Bowler E 3/55 (11) = 85 points
Bowler F 3/62 (26) = 75 points
Bowler G 3/91 (16) = 65 points
Bowler H 3/115 (55) = 75 points

Fielding
Per Catch 10 Points
Per WK Catch 8 Points
Per Run Out 10 Points
Per Stumping 10 Points

The well-performed players last season under a pretty similar points system:

Tempted to join. Do I have to submit a team every so often or can I set and forget?

Season-ending injuries and some unforeseeable stuff like Kruger van Wyk leaving the country did have an excessive effect on last season's scoring, I felt.

I'll defer to draft veterans like Athlai and Phlegm to decide how best to deal with that. Maybe selecting squads of 14, then getting a chance to update your playing XI after each of the three Test series to be played, something like that.

Athlai

Not Terrible
Set and forget and if there's any crazy people leaving or severe season long injuries you can get a random dude.

should defs include tests imo to test the balance of guns vs hacks and proper looking sides vs engine roooooom

last time tests were involved i think there were automatic bonus points?

Yeah I awarded 50 bonus points just for being picked to play a Test. Phlegm can decide if we do that again, or a figure less than 50.

Order of opting in:

Kippax
Athers
Howsie
Dan
Chewie

Picking order for R1 and R2:

Hold off on making the first pick until Wednesday, Phlegm. We'll get everyone's issues with the points system sorted out, and Heef and BFP were good in this last season, so we may need to go to nine players or something a bit crammed.

No sign of BFP or Heef, so kick us off with the first pick, Phlegm.

It took us 14 days of drafting last season (we've got 11 days before the season starts, this time around).12 hours passes and I'll let you skip the guy in front. Auto 50 bonus points for a guy playing a Test, as Phlegm suggested.
