**Official** Afghanistan in Bangladesh 2016

Credit to Afghanistan for levelling the series. BD camp needs to think a lot about the game planning and strategies. No point in picking up Rubel. Soumya is out of form since forever. Mushfiq is not fit to stand behind stumps - drops catches, misses stumpings in crucial crucial times. Maybe get Nurul Hasan in the mix up. Shabbir is not being used properly. I still think Mullah should play as a finisher role. If these things are not sorted out, BD should forget about beating England in the next series.

So this is the Bangladesh team that according to this forum should whitewash England. Lot of hype.

There is no hype. BD's home performance in last few years talks and tbh this afghan team have the right kind of bowlers to trouble bd more in these conditions than england

Not really last few years, just last year really where they had a purple patch. And then it was beating South Africa (a team that is useless in the subcontinent), Pakistan (useless at ODIs) and India thanks to the Fizz taking hatfuls.

They've not done it consistently and without Fizz Bangladesh are a very clear second favourite against a pretty good England ODI side.

Bangladesh consistently underperform when they're the favourites to win a game and fail to get off to a strong start. They're seriously the mentally weakest bunch of cricketers I have ever seen, Shakib and Mortaza aside. They thrive off being the underdogs in favourable conditions. They want their opponents panicking about the possibility of losing to them, rather than being excited about beating them.

Time and time again we've seen that when they are the favourites, like in this series, and they find themselves on the backfoot in the game...they panic. They become sloppy, make bad decisions, and screw up crucial moments.

If all you think is 'I can't fail, I can't fail, I can't fail'...you fail. And thats what this group of guys does.

1 step forward, 2 steps back...

Well this was always on the cards. Afghanistan are improving at a fast pace and the BCB still has no inclination towards schedules and looking to develop a favourable schedule for Bangladesh. Bangladesh is the only team that hasn't played any international cricket since March. That's just bad planning. They haven't played any tests since July last year. This what happens every time. They show some development, then spend the next 6 months twiddling thumbs and the next time you see them, they have taken a few steps backward.

Not true. In the last 5-6 years, they have beaten New Zealand and West Indies along with making the final of the Asia Cup 2012. 2015 was not the only year and it was certainly not just a purple patch. You're just not familiar with Bangladesh cricket.

Don't foget the WC wins against England.

Unfair to say they've been in a purple patch when they were putting in solid performances at home and then started dominating once Fixzy arrived.

Definitely still not favourites against this current English side though.

Lol did you say South Africa is useless in the subcontinent? They won the last ODI series in India.

More matches than wickets in list A doesn't bode very well
Ftr this is the guy ***** brought up on the podcast as an example of the Bangladesh selectors possibly showing some more faith in their domestic setup rather than relying on picking kids and hoping they learn on the job.

It really looks like domestic batsmen just try to see him off with those stats. 1/32 off 8 seems a standard set for him.
